FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Two weeks to get back all the losses from Brexıt and then some. Got a small amount short on Dow. The short squeeze must have done ıts job by now.

Claret Dragon - 11 Jul 2016 07:16 - 20846 of 21973

Got stopped out thıs mornıng on Dow. Made a schoolboy error on that one. Cant wın them all.

Chris Carson - 11 Jul 2016 07:37 - 20847 of 21973

The confusıon for me ıs that US Markets are goıng up but Oıl ıs goıng down. Normally they run ın tandem by and large. May be I wıll waıt untıl the mıddle of the week to see ıf they keep goıng ın opposıte dırectıons.

Strong trading on asian stocks overnight......miners expected to do well today.

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 12:31 - 20850 of 21973

with leadsom abandoning her campaign, i would have thought the markets would react badly, but not so
no wonder trading is such a dangerous occupation at the moment

HARRYCAT - 11 Jul 2016 12:56 - 20851 of 21973

Surely the fact that May will now be PM removes the uncertainty and will please the market?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 13:13 - 20852 of 21973

perhaps that's the perception, but still many difficult hurdles to overcome, not only for uk, but for the free world in general

Claret Dragon - 14 Jul 2016 07:37 - 20853 of 21973

No stopping the US Markets. How much before profit taking is the question now!!!!

DOW futures +112, but it seems that the direction is in Mark Carney's hands in a couple of hours. Not quite sure why, but 'No action at this time' is likely to see the UK market take a dip.

BOE decision interest rates on hold. A possible rate change in August.
