That reminds me, I must look for a mirror to fill that space on my garden wall!

Jeffmack, what on earth are you doing reading the Mirror?

jeffmack - 09 Sep 2003 11:44 - 2083 of 23498

Socs
I dont, it was forwarded to me from someone else in the office

Sorry so late getting back to you, I've been out galavanting. Had a wander around the Westonbirt Arboretum, lovely quiet place to stroll and recharge ones batteries, so to speak. Most surprised to come across some Humming Bird Hawk Moths, never seen them before. They do fly just like humming birds and sip nectar from flowers just the same.

I didn't think you were a Mirror reader, didn't sound right.

8 Ball - 09 Sep 2003 20:06 - 2085 of 23498

Thanks for the link Jeff very funny.

47 and you don't even get to take the seat home.
Must admit that I rarely paid for watch football, one benifit of having a brother as a player, plenty of free tickets and players bar after the game.

Found memories of Tony Adams carrying a crate of red wine out of the players bar onto the team bus.

I'm off to e bay to search lada rear view mirrors.

Ask Hilary for a mirror, she may have a spare, generally they outlast the car.

jeffmack - 09 Sep 2003 20:58 - 2087 of 23498

Enjoying the holiday Socs. With you being a bigwig in the Aerospace industry, I hope my plane wont be delayed Saturday because you are on holiday.

Chocs Away

I was hoping it was Hilary selling on e bay Jeff.

What's with this bigwig bit? I'm just a small cog in a small wheel. Anyway, today is the day to put Plan B into operation.

Socrates - 11 Sep 2003 19:16 - 2090 of 23498

G'day Bruce, how's Sheila?

little willie - 11 Sep 2003 19:49 - 2091 of 23498

Blimey Socs, you're the only one still standing at the bar; give us a large Hennessey VSOP Petite champagne cognac, warm the belly of the glass there's a love...aaggghhh thats touched the spot, better still, leave the bottle with me for medicinal purposes only.
A nice Romeo & Juliet would complete the wotsit but mrs.lw would slap my wrist.

Disasterous day today, I run three portfolios, 'current', 'old' and 'watchings'; but just a sea of red, however I see good ol' George W and the US of A is doing well so there's hope for the morrow.

Feeling very sorry for myself; why is it us fellas get far far worse colds than 'les femmes' ? My mrs. really doesn't understand me or realise how truly ill I am whereas I bet that you understand, eh Socs?

MightyMicro - 11 Sep 2003 20:07 - 2092 of 23498

Hils: about that Napa Valley wine tour -- you're not going to be in the Bay Area the weekend of 20/21 Sep by any chance?

Socrates - 11 Sep 2003 20:15 - 2093 of 23498

lw
What's all this malingering, you're not looking for sympathy are you? And just get to grips with your portfolios will you and stop this wingeing. Ahhhh, I feel better now.

hilary - 12 Sep 2003 07:04 - 2094 of 23498

Derek,

I could certainly make myself available in the Bay Area that weekend. Sadly though, it would have to be either Bracklesham Bay or Herne Bay rather than San Fransisco Bay which, I'm guessing, is what you had in mind. Ho Humm ....... Guess I'll have to make do with a tour of the Godstone Vineyards instead of the Napa Valley.

Nice thought though.

:-)

Hilary
What a modern lady you are! Perhaps this would be more in your line:

little willie - 12 Sep 2003 09:27 - 2096 of 23498

Socs..feel a little better now, Hennessey did the trick but disturbed at the lack of sympathy from this cafe.

Hils..didn't know you knew my old stampin' ground around the Witterings or where you at Mick & Keef's party in '67.

Still enjoy mars bar's to this day.

It's a long web address but I recommend it as worth a look.
About 5ks up the road, we go there at lunch times, beautiful park for picknicking , also Boland, Spier, La Motte, Robert Beck etc etc...lw

hilary - 12 Sep 2003 11:07 - 2097 of 23498

Hello lw,

Sorry to hear of your affliction. I would've been the first person to rub your chest better, but unfortunately my arms aren't long enough to reach you several thousand miles away. I sadly missed Mick & Keef's party as I was a mere babe at the time and it clashed with one of Mrs Donglebreath's piano lessons ....... I heard that it was fun though. I dumped those IRV flat the other day, btw ...... got bored waiting for nothing to happen.

Socs,

Being honest, I'm not really into English wine so it's inappropriate to suggest that I might be "modern". I'm happy with my White Zin on offer at Mr Cohens. Did you register for your 1 week freebie on the other side, btw?

Socrates - 12 Sep 2003 11:36 - 2098 of 23498

Hilary
It wasn' to wine I was referring when I suggested you may be "modern". As for British wine, some is excellent although usually a bit on the dry side for my taste.

No, I haven't gone for the L2 trial yet. I've been a bit too busy to do it justice. Although I have been here posting quite a bit I've been involved with other events that have precluded lengthy research. I see they have just started another trial today so I have yet more chance to have a go. As an aside, I would like MaM to have a pay-as-you-go L2 facility. For people like me, who normally have only about 15 minutes a day on-line when the markets are open, it would be quite a boon.

A couple of prospects have come to mind, BSG and GFRD. GFRD in particular looks like a break-out might be imminent.

HAND

hilary - 12 Sep 2003 11:56 - 2099 of 23498

Socs,

Personally I wouldn't enter either of those stocks at their current levels. Not saying that they won't continue to rise from here, but they are both due a pullback which could happen at any time. They both gave strong buy signals over a month ago when they were much lower. That was your ideal entry point.

I think that you might have missed your L2 opportunity for September as you had to register by yesterday. am do special trial offers regularly so, hopefully, there might be another one soon.

L2 is pay-as-you-go, btw. You pay for a month and it goes for a month. I think that there is an issue concerning Exchange fees and the streaming -v- refresh issue which means that it costs as much to have it on all day as it costs for a single 15 minute session.

:-)

Socrates - 12 Sep 2003 16:35 - 2100 of 23498

Hilary
L2 would really be a waste of resources to me at present. If I were to be 15 minutes late home from work I would not get any benefit from the live feeds. Also, the number and value of trades that I make do not justify the expense. Time will come when that is not the case but just at present I can use the 705 per year for extra investments.

You are right, I've missed the September chance for free L2 trial but I've a suspicion they will have another promotion soon.

Thanks for your view on the two shares, always good to have a second opinion.
