THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

fred - the reason (there are others!) that i get cross with you, is that you are happy to whine and whinge and berate the current gov't but can't be bothered to vote to do something about it ..... you are therefore no better than tin can rattling in the wind i'm afraid

============

gf - i used to really like those cod-liver oil capsules - must have been the only one who did ...... free 1/3 pints of milk too ......
i cannot see that there is anything remotely virtuous in being poor and making a big song and dance about it later in life (no, i did not say you did), but in my time i certainly hid from creditors and drove a mini-cab in the evenings to pay food and other bills ...... very difficult to use the clutch with bits of cardboard as shoes on ones feet

goldfinger - 21 Feb 2013 16:05 - 21642 of 81564

And who stopped the free milk cyners??????????????????.

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 16:06 - 21643 of 81564

GF.

Fly fishing?

Surprised what you can catch on a cold day.

Even a cold.

Which Dam?

Hear Vince is trying to wriggle out of it as he thinks cons are trying to set him and the libs up, before the next election, blaming them for the economic collapse.

Going to get very dirty between the UKIP, Lib/dems and tories before and at the election between.

skinny - 21 Feb 2013 16:15 - 21644 of 81564

A spoon of cod liver oil taken with malt - very nice and evocative!

cynic - 21 Feb 2013 16:16 - 21645 of 81564

i've no idea and i don't really care ..... i think it was very much an early post-war mid 50s thing to ensure young children had some calcium intake, just as we now take fluoride in the water for granted...... my goodness there was a major rumpus about that, but it has enormously improved dental health ..... my own children - combined ages 90! - have 2 or perhaps 3 fillings between them

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 16:17 - 21646 of 81564

That would spoil a good whisky!

cynic - 21 Feb 2013 16:17 - 21647 of 81564

bemax was the brand .... lovely stuff!

skinny - 21 Feb 2013 16:20 - 21648 of 81564

Touché Fred!

Stan - 21 Feb 2013 16:29 - 21649 of 81564

Any of you Con artists on here then? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21536171

goldfinger - 21 Feb 2013 16:35 - 21650 of 81564

Go on someone tell cyners it was Maggie Thatcher who stopped the free school milk.

Wouldnt mind but later she said ' let them eat sandwiches'.

Fat Carol her daughter obviously didnt.

Typical entrenched Tory view that to the poor.

hilary - 21 Feb 2013 16:36 - 21651 of 81564

Bit pathetic that they could only come up with 9 names on the list. Even more strange that only 2 of the 9 have southern addresses - clearly tax dodging is a northern thing. That's socialism for you.

goldfinger - 21 Feb 2013 16:40 - 21652 of 81564

Fred no pole fishing for roach on the appartments complex I own.Its for residents really and just restocked it so wanted to see what was doing........ie, nothing. Plenty of cans of stella tho.

Dont need a license.. Really out of season well old season.

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 16:58 - 21653 of 81564

GF,

I thought all fresh water fishing needed a National Licence.

Has that been change?

Caught a few perch on a fly.

--------------

Used to have a hip flask of brandy for the cold weather. (Nice but stupid. My fishing mate used to drive, so he couldn't drink. But serves him right, he always caught fish, I rarely did, but I had the best, rods which was even dafter.)

When the warm weather comes, must try it again.

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 16:59 - 21654 of 81564

PS.

But I enjoy baiting Cynic.

He does wriggle a bit, too much sometimes.

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 17:04 - 21655 of 81564

Stan,

It good to see that they may be beginning to catch up.

Also, good to see they are beginning to look overseas for tax evaders and more countries are beginning to open their books.

EU rules and regulations will be changed, perhaps a reason for some in the UK wanting to stay outside the EU.

cynic - 21 Feb 2013 17:04 - 21656 of 81564

hey sticky, did no one ever tell you that harold wilson assuredly did not come from working class stock, was grammar school educated and that his flat hat, flat accent and pipe were no more than acquired props to promote his (false) image?

i confess i am a great fan of margaret thatcher's albeit that she went rather bats towards the end ...... inter alia, it was good to have a pm who was seriously tough - we haven't had one who could hold a candle(??) to her since - and who brought that virtue to bear not only against eu and argentina, but also against the communist-led/backed unions who were doing their level best to bring the country to its knees

cynic - 21 Feb 2013 17:06 - 21657 of 81564

fred - if you caught perch on a fly, then it must have been a lure, and assuredly not "the real thing" :-)

btw, i have no problem with anyone having a pop at me, whether seriously or in jest ..... unlike some, i am happy to live with the dictum of, "if you dish it out, then accept it back" ...... i only (eventually) draw the line with the real nasty spiteful few like MJ/MRSI ..... even Clubman (rip) had a good and humorous side once you got past the porcupine bits

Fred1new - 21 Feb 2013 17:10 - 21658 of 81564

Yes Cynic,

You couldn't have had a better mother.

A bit like Huhne and Pryce, both deserving one another.
