Northern Rock (NRK)

irlee57 - 13 Aug 2007 09:03

any comments, thoughts, on this stock.

oilyrag - 20 Sep 2007 09:04 - 201 of 1029

I can see this going to nothing.

Toya - 20 Sep 2007 09:21 - 202 of 1029

I read somewhere (sorry, can't recall where) that HBOS might consider paying 100p per share to acquire NRK. The same article had mentioned Lloyds TSB possibly paying 200p (see comment 190 above).

But, as Oilyrag says: this could go to nothing. The spoils might just be divided up between different banks.

Too risky for me, but it's interesting to keep an eye on developments.

well I have just had a dabble at 212p. King on TV channel 80 at present. Looking to be doing ok to me. He confirms that the roll over backing would be given to any bidder.

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 11:01 - 206 of 1029

you're nuts! .... you would have had a safer bet on the 2:30 favourite at Wincanton

oilyrag - 20 Sep 2007 11:06 - 207 of 1029

Scott, is that for the whole company or just one share. LOL.

Guscavalier - 20 Sep 2007 11:12 - 208 of 1029

I onlt did it to wake you up cynic

HARRYCAT - 20 Sep 2007 11:18 - 209 of 1029

the 2.30 at Wincanton would have been a dead cert lose as there isn't any meeting there today! Or is that your point, cynic? :o)

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 11:27 - 210 of 1029

no, but would have said same had i known!

derwent - 20 Sep 2007 11:28 - 211 of 1029

hewittalan6 - 20 Sep 2007 11:40 - 212 of 1029

Starting to look very interesting at this level.

Barry Harris - 20 Sep 2007 11:57 - 213 of 1029

are investment companies like Credit Suisse and RAB allowed to short shares

hlyeo98 - 20 Sep 2007 12:01 - 214 of 1029

NRK is not worth anything looking at its constant daily falls ranging fron 15-35%.

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 12:02 - 215 of 1029

probably, depending on their internal structure etc

hlyeo98 - 20 Sep 2007 12:21 - 216 of 1029

Looks like it is going to be a welcomed member of the '90% club' soon.

hewittalan6 - 20 Sep 2007 12:33 - 217 of 1029

Citigroup say a worst case value of 6p, so perhaps the current sp is not so interesting

Stan - 20 Sep 2007 12:38 - 218 of 1029

I think the word people are searching for is "Avoid" (shorters excepted of course) -):

Balmoral - 20 Sep 2007 12:40 - 219 of 1029
