Spaceman - 10 Oct 2008 13:28 - 23263 of 24230

Socs, I could alwasy use some of the crap wooden furnature and light a camp fire in the room.

And its not a 5* hotel, its 3/4 and it still costs an arm and a leg to saty here ;-)

Socrates - 10 Oct 2008 13:31 - 23264 of 24230

So fellow cafe persons, a thought came to mind, when will the mass resignations and firings of bank board members and executives begin? After all, they have been claiming huge wages and bonuses on the basis of doing a wonderful job, when it actually turns out they have pushed many ordinary folk into penury by their greed and, dare I say it, incompetence.

Of course I am fearful that after the dust settles, they will all claim huge bonuses on the basis that they kept the banks afloat in such hard times. Cynical, moi?

Lunch is ready, chicken in a basket with chips OK?

Socrates - 10 Oct 2008 13:33 - 23265 of 24230

Spacie, I love it, I've never heard of a three quarter star hotel before. Maybe I'll wait till they get the other quarter before I stay there.

Socks the dust has started to settle already judging by the state of the glass I was given for my Coke or is Bunny slacking at the washing up again. Put an ad in for a bankrupt banker to help.

Socrates - 10 Oct 2008 19:58 - 23269 of 24230

Bankrupt Banker is surely an oxymoron?

This_is_me - 12 Oct 2008 23:01 - 23270 of 24230

Japan Doom

Following the problems with the sub-prime lending market in the USA
uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up,
and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will
likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended
after they nose-dived.

While Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop, and analysts report
that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared
that staff may get a raw deal.

kimoldfield - 13 Oct 2008 11:48 - 23271 of 24230

Did someone mention sushi? I'll have some please and a bowl of miso soup.

KEAYDIAN - 14 Oct 2008 11:54 - 23272 of 24230

Look out

(honk honk)

kimoldfield - 14 Oct 2008 12:24 - 23273 of 24230

There's a bit of a draught in here!

Talking of draught, I think it's Guinness time.

Spaceman - 14 Oct 2008 12:42 - 23274 of 24230

Morning all, off to Connecticut this morning to see some tall ships.

Any chance of a warm danish and a cuppa before we hit the road?

kimoldfield - 14 Oct 2008 12:42 - 23275 of 24230

This doesn't look good. Have you seen the cobwebs on the Guiness pump?

KEAYDIAN - 14 Oct 2008 12:53 - 23276 of 24230

Ah, cafe's door is open and it's lunchtime, ish.

(pedal pedal pedal)

kimoldfield - 14 Oct 2008 13:43 - 23277 of 24230

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, the training Tall ship for future Coast Guard officers, is based at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

Just thought I'd pass that piece of info on.

I'll bet you always wanted to know that.

KEAYDIAN - 14 Oct 2008 13:44 - 23278 of 24230

zzz zzz zzz

kimoldfield - 14 Oct 2008 14:00 - 23279 of 24230

Oh, you didn't then. Hmph.

KEAYDIAN - 14 Oct 2008 14:23 - 23280 of 24230

Where's my lunch?
