Kim

Though Adept is run as a separate entity it is still burning SEO cash.
They, SEO must have some good news on Greenseal.
Looking forward and feel positive.

hewittalan6 - 05 Mar 2007 07:40 - 23782 of 27111

Interesting development, but it reads as a bit of posturing to me.
Still waiting to get that 80% back in.
Alan

greekman - 05 Mar 2007 07:50 - 23783 of 27111

Alan,

I agree. Although not a main part of SEO's future prospects, I still think they (the Indian Company) are having a laugh. They presumably are testing the waters.
It may tempt others (if there are any) out into the open.
I expect a bit of a bidding war to develop quite quickly.
If no one else joins the race, it will show no one else is that bothered.
A good indicators perhaps of what the polymer unit is really worth.

hewittalan6 - 05 Mar 2007 07:55 - 23784 of 27111

Also a good indicator of SEO's cash position.
If they take it seriously, they are desperate for more money.
IMO.
I think though, that its just as likely the Indians are merely signalling intent to all UK packaging companies, to see who may approach them.

Adept are the main men behind Starpol aren't they? In which case the valuation certainly is crap.

greekman - 05 Mar 2007 08:08 - 23786 of 27111

Taken from last years results.

Adept Polymers

Adept continues to provide the expertise to promote the groups products and
assist in the development of the Starpol ranges along with the marketing of its
Depart PVOH and Starpol blends of pellet, films and materials .

We have invested in equipment to enable us to develop the cigarette filter
trials and, with our advisers, we are continuing to evaluate the market
opportunities. We are currently in the process of manufacturing samples of
filters.

Adept and Aquasol, combining with Biotec, continue to work with Carclo Plc in
developing and commercialising ingestible injection mouldable grades of material
for hard shell capsules for veterinary and then pharmaceutical applications.
END

My view is that although the polymer section is eating cash, if the above no longer hold true, it surely must indication that all development re Starpol, and the work with Carclo has either reached fruition, in a positive sense or something unforeseen has occurred.
To me it must mean that the polymer unit has lost it's importance due to completing it's needs, successfully. Hopefully a good indicator.

Still think the offer will increase as they never start with a serious offer price (especially the eastern companies). Ever tried to bargain in these countries. The same mentality presumably is ingrained in the culture, business is business.
All IMHO of course.

kimoldfield - 05 Mar 2007 08:16 - 23787 of 27111

A Starpol wrapped Indian takeaway?

greekman - 05 Mar 2007 09:17 - 23788 of 27111

Plantic Technologes....http://www.plantic.com.au/

According to their site and an article in todays Telegraph they state they are the only company to use corn based starch exclusively to make plastics.
These plastics (none oil ) can be mouldered and they have reached a deal with Carrefour the French Supermarket to make and supply plastic trays.

Starpol is derived from corn starch, but as I understand it has certain additives.
Plantic are about to float, and yet they already have a deal.

I wonder how Plantics product matches up against Seo's, both being bio-degradable.

If SEO don't show big progress at the results stage, they will loose the race.
I am not ramping Plantic or de-ramping SEO, just becoming more nervous re these delays.

kimoldfield - 05 Mar 2007 09:43 - 23789 of 27111

It is just possible that SEO may have some encouraging news to add when they turn out their RNS regarding Arrow.

garyble - 05 Mar 2007 11:43 - 23790 of 27111

I doubt it very much Kim!

Could be that with the ongoing restructure Adept are no longer required for R&D as Biotec is probably self-sufficient. I believe the patents either belong to Stanelco RF Technologies or Biotec.

With the result coming out just over two weeks, could this also be a bid to drum up some interest?!

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 11:49 - 23791 of 27111

surprising strength here, though perhaps just short positions being closed

pinnacle - 05 Mar 2007 14:58 - 23792 of 27111

Keep the faith:

The disposal is the sensible thing to do.

Starpol is the key NOT Greenseal.

Look at the bigger picture - Stanelco will succeed.

jimward9 - 05 Mar 2007 15:06 - 23793 of 27111

If they do sell Adept, do they have to sell Starpol with it, or can it be transfered to Biotec or keep it at SEO ?

garyble - 05 Mar 2007 16:32 - 23794 of 27111

The patents would either be with Stanelco RF Technologies or Biotec. I've only managed to find one patent listed under Adept Polymers and that was for an extrusion process.

Anyway, its a no-brainer, Starpol is key to SEO's success so if Adept is necessary for Starpol development they would retain it, else get rid at the right price.

kimoldfield - 05 Mar 2007 17:58 - 23795 of 27111

There appears to be a bit of a scramble to get stuff through the European Patent Office, there were 4 items in 2006, there are already 7 so far this year; there does not appear to be anything new but what does stands out is that most of it seems to be connected with Greenseal technology.

Tonyrelaxes - 05 Mar 2007 19:46 - 23796 of 27111

My thoughts re Adept - as if anyone is interested.
I got over my conceit years ago when I achieved perfection !

'New SEO' has demonstrated admirably they are not issuing RNSs on any frivolity or ramping opportunity, but only when obliged by Regulations. Frustrating though this may be when compared with the old sacked management and owners, I am happy that the new Board has done nothing wrong (YET) to lessen my trust in them and what they said they are doing.

Todays AFX 'announcement' is essentially no more than an independant reporting of a rumour seen in another news form. There has (so far) been no confirmation or denial from Adept or its owners which could indicate there is no substance to the rumour - or just be in line with 'New SEO's' policy of saying as little as necessary.

In the absence of an update from the Board since the EGM we must assume they are getting on with things as planned (their plan that is, not the previous Board's). This being so, if there is an approach to acquire Adept it could be a hinderance as it will occupy management time and energy.

Some pundits on other BBs are jumping up and down saying SEO needs the money despite what was in the Prospectus last October. That said the raising of 11million would be sufficient "for at least 12 months". As it happened, they raised 15million - over a third more. So how do these folks think we are short after just 4 months?

Although many on BBs continue to expect BIG NEWS of McDs, C-C, and WM I do not -not yet anyway. Not because they are not a possibility (I believe strongly that they are) but because corporations of their size, success and standing do not change their tried, tested and successful products and presentation in a few months, or if they do they do it quietly and subtly in case it goes wrong and backfires on them. I am however aware SEO products are already being bought by smaller users and that means those work and are producing revenues.

I prefer to consider the last known publicly stated facts (ie what is in the Prospectus - for which the authors are fully responsible at Law) and wait for their update, which has been promised for 2 weeks on Wednesday.

Oilywag - 05 Mar 2007 21:48 - 23797 of 27111

Good post tonyrelaxes

The oily one

boldtrader - 05 Mar 2007 22:57 - 23798 of 27111

Thanks Tony.

EWRobson - 05 Mar 2007 23:04 - 23799 of 27111

Agree good post from tonyrelaxes. But note the emphasis in the AFX on R/F technology. This implies to me that Greenseal is central to strategy; Starpol may be the main moneyspinner but was acquired primarily to give gearing to Greenseal. The sale of ADEPT implies confidence in the strategy adopted. As Tony says, may not have come to noticable fruition by prelims but I think the noises made will be positive and, more importantly, clearly reliable.

Tonyrelaxes - 06 Mar 2007 00:12 - 23800 of 27111

Eric.
What sale of Adept?
I accept there is seldom smoke without fire, but there has been nothing to suggest Adept is up for sale or that such a sale fits in with the strategy.
Any AFX is just press reporting on speculation elsewhere. It is not a "Statement" from any party to a deal under negotiation and agreement.
What todays AFX says is there is a rumour elsewhere that someone wants to buy Adept.
It needs a willing, or distressed, seller for this to happen.
Have we got this?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It is also said in my local that I want 2 Porsches [one for the lovely M ;-) ] as well as an R1200GS Adventure alongside them in the garage in a villa in the Massive des Maures. But there is nothing in that rumour to suggest anyone is willing accept any offer I am realistically capable of making right now - if those were indeed up for sale - and my wishes. Who knows?

(But they are ! And maybe, just maybe, SEO and CHP together will do it for me. Both SPs were up today as well as last week. No mean achievement. Looking good.)
