How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Just got back home, off down the pub to contemplate but also celebrate. I am in officially freaked out mode. Almost got my head panned in by the nearby Southampton fans who thought I was the devil.

Script, Re Post 2637 time to change your login ID to Marty-Mcfly.

Can you dream before next week the winner of the FA Cup and time of the winning score. (Shouldn't be too hard as you've done this before) Then can I have the name of the winning horse in this years Derby and while you at it, this years eurovision winner and next 6 lotto numbers. :-)

Many thanks and sweet dreams.

LOL! Why do you think I run a Lottery syndicate as well?

Scant reward for seeing Southampton go down. But at least I did my bit to attempt to avert the inevitable. My voice is pretty much gone.

cunningham - 15 May 2005 21:51 - 2785 of 10502

Shortly after the result I got an email to tell me my brother-in-law got mugged last night in Barcelona last night. Put my misery into perspective at the time. Now I just dread all the pompey supporters at work tomorrow.

You can laugh at them when the are cast adrift at the bottom of the league next year. :)

In all honestly other than the first half Southampton never looked in it. Man U were rock solid and looked a class act. Ferdinand in defence was unbreachable. They all worked together as a unit very well. However, Rooney was a arrogant little s**t though and I hate his guts. He just has the wrong attitude during and outside of the game. I don't know if the press will pick up on it but there was a post match incident which really did him no favours at all.

cunningham - 15 May 2005 22:02 - 2787 of 10502

That came across in the commentary as well. Intrigued as to what Rooney did, if I don't see, hear or read before you can tell me at the next traders meeting.

i saw a fair bit of the game (was flicking a lot mind) - as soon as United equalised it looked inevitable and second half the Saints appeared to run out of steam (they would have known other scores by then). At least you didnt have to suffer knowing if you won then you stayed up only to lose 6-0

spill the beans on rooney please!!!

as for your prediction - spooky - dare i ask how much you had on?

Cunningham

sorry to hear about your brother - i hope it wasnt too serious and he is ok

Scripophilist - 16 May 2005 09:21 - 2789 of 10502

I've got a major league hangover this morning!

BTW, I need glasses, it was Keane not Rooney. But my view on both is similar anyhow!! Keane wasn't playing but obviously came out afterwards for a run around. It's in the papers today. You see, I can see the future but can't see a famous footballer from 100 yards, ROFL!

Here's a copy from The Sun. Several words spring to mind that aren't suitable for the threads on this web site.

Cool it, Keano
By ANDREW DILLON

ROY KEANE was hauled away by stewards after he gave the thumbs down to raging
Southampton fans.

The angry scenes came after the final whistle at St Marys saw Saints relegated following a 2-1 loss to Manchester United.

Keane who did not play in the game was greeted by jeers and chants of Arsenal, Arsenal from fans as he went on to the pitch for a post-match warm-down.

The United skipper responded by taunting the Championship-bound Saints supporters with thumbs down gestures.

His actions caused fury in the stands and stewards stepped in to hurry Keane down the tunnel.

Scripophilist - 16 May 2005 11:13 - 2791 of 10502

He went right up to the fans and waved 'goodbye' as well. Absolute chaos, you can imagine. Very close to a major incident.

Scrip, be careful there is a dark side to this deja vu stuff. I hope you're not superstitious. Have you read D H Lawrence's short story "The Rocking Horse Winner"?

No I'm not an inveterate kill-joy ;-)

I have signed up for and am looking forward to your course in July and was wondering if you had time to put up the updated presentation on your probability.info site?

Hi, I will do, Just been very busy. Will hopefully get something up pretty soon.

"I hope you're not superstitious", I'm not, I'm probably the antithesis of superstition.

Scripophilist - 17 May 2005 16:02 - 2794 of 10502
