confess i really do not like carp at all and have tried it several times ..... my pal in hamburg is a keen fisherman for same and they also eat a lot of it in that region - mainly poached i think

from memory, carp is also a traditional christmas eve and easter dish for the polish community

Greeks eat a lot of it as do Hungarians.

pike too, but haven't even tried that since my youth at what was then a very popular restaurant in soho called the gay hussar .... i recollect they also had a resident zither player

Pike ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yuk. Bloody awfull no matter how many ways ive tried to cook it. Tastes like dead leaves and mud. Even tobasco sauce doesnt liven it up.
