GOLD OIL, the London-based oil exploration company focused on the South American and Caribbean region, announces that in late December 2005, the Company received an Operator Certificate from PeruPetro that allows the Company to carry out seismic, drilling and development operations in Northwest Peru.
The Promotion Licence signed with PeruPetro on October 15, 2004 with PeruPetro for Block XI (now renamed Block XXI) onshore Sechura Basin has been converted to an Exploration and Production Licence. The Licence now goes to the Ministry of Energy and Mines for approval, which could be forthcoming anytime between February and May of this year 2006.
The terms of the E&P Licence commit the Company to either shoot 120 km of 2D seismic or drill a well in the first period of five over a seven year term. The remaining four periods require the Company to either drill a well or drop the acreage. The Licence is for a term of 30 years for oil and 40 years for gas, with a minimum royalty of 5% on wellhead production for the first 5000bopd (30 MMscfd for gas) rising to 20% if and when production reaches 100,000 bopd (600 MMscfd for gas).
Times Article:
Gold Oil is valued in the market at about 15m. That is so small that almost any good news must have a big impact on the share price.
What are the chances of that happening? Run by a former Burmah Oil director, Mike Burchell, Gold Oil will drill the first in a series of wells in the Sechura Basin in April. There will be surprise if it does not find gas, as another company, Olympic, has done just that in a similar formation nearby.
The secondary target, later in the year, will be oil, I gather. A couple of months ago, Petro Tech made a big oil find offshore in the Sechura Basin. The theory is the oil may have migrated up into Gold Oils block. Dont ask me to explain the geology because I dont speak Palaeozoic. But a decent oil find here would be a company-maker.
Gold Oil has enough cash to fund this years drilling programme. And it already has a deal in place to sell its gas to Mann Ferrostaal, a German company that is building an ammonia plant nearby. Getting all that for 15m seemed a bargain to me. But Gold Oil still has to find its gas.

Major stock gauges surge, tripping trading circuit breakers, after Bernanke speech eases inflation jitters.
By Steve Hargreaves, CNNMoney.com staff writer

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Investors bought stocks big time Thursday afternoon after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered a non-alarmist speech on inflation, extending a morning rally sparked by tame economic reports.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (up 167.13 to 10,984.05, Charts) jumped about 1.5 percent while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index (up 21.51 to 1,251.55, Charts) advanced 1.7 percent with about an hour left in the session. The Nasdaq composite (up 50.88 to 2,136.88, Charts) surged 2.4 percent.

The size and breadth of the rally led the New York Stock Exchange to institute a restriction on trading - circuit breakers that prevent the market from rising or falling too much on any given day.
It also led some investors to speculate that stock's long slide over the last several weeks may finally have come to an end.
"The market has been searching for a bottom for the last five trading days," said Tim Heekin, a trader at the San Francisco investment bank Thomas Weisel. "I think we put it in yesterday."
The Fed chairman, long scaring markets with inflation speak, said overall cost increases due to higher energy prices had been "relatively low" and that inflation expectations in the bond markets had "fallen back somewhat" over the last month, Reuters reported.
"Nevertheless, these developments bear watching," the news agency quoted him saying.
The comments only added to relief brought earlier in the session when mixed economic news sparked hope that a slowing economy could convince Federal Reserve policy-makers from raising rates further after their meeting later this month.
The Fed said industrial output posted a surprise decline in May, down 0.1 percent. Economists were looking for a 0.2 percent gain, according to Briefing.com. Capacity use also slipped.
On the plus side, the Empire State Index rose to 29 in June from a 12.9 reading in May. The New York Fed's report on manufacturing activity in its territory is one of the most current readings on economic activity. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast the index would slip to 11.
And weekly initial jobless claims fell to 295,000 the week ended June 10, from a revised 303,000 level the previous week, when economists had expected it to climb to 320,000.
"These were a little bit better, but not screaming to the upside," said Larry Peruzzi, a stock trader at The Boston Company Asset Management. "It looks like the inflationary concerns that have knocked us down over the last month have ebbed a little bit. The breath of the market is leading us to believe this little rally may have some legs."
Indeed, stocks advancing beat out stocks declining by more than three to one on both the NYSE and Nasdaq.
Stocks rallied Wednesday despite an inflation report that economists said all but guaranteed another Fed rate hike June 29.
That rally followed nearly a month of selling that spread to other markets worldwide on as investors worried that rising rates would choke off economic growth, hitting corporate profits.
The sell-off pulled the Dow briefly into negative territory for the ye
