How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Bak

the price is that big because a) the other player is woods and b) the course is unbelievably tough - double bogies are easy to come by

likewise nice profit thanks to the goose - im horribly red on him but very green on campbell and woods

campbell finds 17th green - should be all over now

Now 're-investing' my money on a quick trade on Campbell. Hope he keeps in shape.

if you got in before he hit his shot at 17 good call scrip

greened up my winning score bet

Scripophilist - 19 Jun 2005 23:25 - 3544 of 10502

Pretty much is.

Scripophilist - 19 Jun 2005 23:27 - 3545 of 10502

More like a lucky call really. When I have free money I see no harm it chucking it at a few things. Would be annoying to lose it but as the downside is zero always seems worth doing something with it now and again.

Woods birdies 18

campbell 2 ahead - 2 putt 17 and bogey 18 to win - 1.08 looks tempting

Sounds like compulsive trading disorder to me scrip :-)

(i should know - i suffer from it)

Fundamentalist - 19 Jun 2005 23:29 - 3548 of 10502

campbell birdies 17 - can afford a double at the last

gee im glad i traded out my winning score bet - that putt could have wiped out my profit

Afternoon all

Is anyone else having problems with the betfair page reloading itself every minute or two or is it just me - it makes trading impossible and is doing my head in?

bakko - 20 Jun 2005 14:43 - 3560 of 10502
