GOLD OIL, the London-based oil exploration company focused on the South American and Caribbean region, announces that in late December 2005, the Company received an Operator Certificate from PeruPetro that allows the Company to carry out seismic, drilling and development operations in Northwest Peru.
The Promotion Licence signed with PeruPetro on October 15, 2004 with PeruPetro for Block XI (now renamed Block XXI) onshore Sechura Basin has been converted to an Exploration and Production Licence. The Licence now goes to the Ministry of Energy and Mines for approval, which could be forthcoming anytime between February and May of this year 2006.
The terms of the E&P Licence commit the Company to either shoot 120 km of 2D seismic or drill a well in the first period of five over a seven year term. The remaining four periods require the Company to either drill a well or drop the acreage. The Licence is for a term of 30 years for oil and 40 years for gas, with a minimum royalty of 5% on wellhead production for the first 5000bopd (30 MMscfd for gas) rising to 20% if and when production reaches 100,000 bopd (600 MMscfd for gas).
Times Article:
Gold Oil is valued in the market at about 15m. That is so small that almost any good news must have a big impact on the share price.
What are the chances of that happening? Run by a former Burmah Oil director, Mike Burchell, Gold Oil will drill the first in a series of wells in the Sechura Basin in April. There will be surprise if it does not find gas, as another company, Olympic, has done just that in a similar formation nearby.
The secondary target, later in the year, will be oil, I gather. A couple of months ago, Petro Tech made a big oil find offshore in the Sechura Basin. The theory is the oil may have migrated up into Gold Oils block. Dont ask me to explain the geology because I dont speak Palaeozoic. But a decent oil find here would be a company-maker.
Gold Oil has enough cash to fund this years drilling programme. And it already has a deal in place to sell its gas to Mann Ferrostaal, a German company that is building an ammonia plant nearby. Getting all that for 15m seemed a bargain to me. But Gold Oil still has to find its gas.

by the way, unless i am being even thicker than usual, the directors' dealings were at 1p .... that being the case, it's not surprising they exercised their options!

THICK,you CYNIC,NEVER!,i wish i could buy goo at 1p and sell at 9,why would they exercise there options at 9 when they have a valuation @28?,you make a very valid point.

if you look at the rns, i am sure it shows they exercised today's slab at 1p with a further balance which they can buy at 9p

dont think this has anything to do with the rns today. but possibly something relating to the 22.95m outstanding from Minmet reversal.
would rather something re XXI/ assets though.

have any of you sold any of your goo shares? I am going to sell 100,000 of mine to show a small profit. that is is they go back where I can get .086p.

for a change the press may be correct, though there will be the odd bright spot and general DCB

unfortunatly I did not manage to sell the 100,000 goo. I have had a few chances of doing so today and have not gone for it. Best to make ones mind up quick and go for it.

you could have sold, even if a fraction below what you hoped ..... i didn't like "owning up" to my bath in RTN or even taking partial profits in IEC when sp had been 2.50 higher not so long ago, but sometimes or even usually biting the bullet quickly is the least painful way - e.g. RTN continued to tumble

so Mr P has been piling in again, albeit with CFDs rather than hard cash

And I thought my portfolio was overweight with GOO stock at 4%.!!!
Wonder what %age his stock represents of his holdings?

Janet,
No one can argue a profit is a profit,
It would be a shame if you sold now and miss out on a potential rise in the sp,
Remember how goo went from 7p to 17 p last time around ahead of news?,
Mr P has another 9 mill, the trade that you saw, some 25 million shares traded,
The debate to buy, sell or hold is strong in all three cases, however if you do not need to sell,HOLD?.
Good luck whatever you decide.

I am sitting on 450,000 shares in goo. These shares have been bought on 6 different occasions over the last fifteen months. The 100,000 I was going to sell yesterday are the only ones I could have taken a profit on. The way the markets are going at the moment they could be at 9p one day and back down to .06p a couple of days later. Who knows. I wish they would go back up to .17p like they were last year around this time. I think I would then reduce my holding by 75 percent then. Good luck to all holding.

never mind how many shares you hold ..... what is that as a % of your portfolio? ..... i would hazard a guess at far far too much for a pie-in-the-sky company ..... just because Mr P has increased his holding from 10 to 13% or whatever, gives no guarantee whatsoever that GOO will find commercial quantities of oil in his lifetime and perhaps not even yours ...... if you can cut out a slab with minimal loss or just a tiny gain, the for goodness sake grab it

I may get the chance today the markets are forcast to open higher. The main thing at least the shares are all paid for.

just because Mr P has increased his holding from 10 to 13% or whatever, gives no guarantee whatsoever that GOO will find commercial quantities of oil in his lifetime and perhaps not even yours .... and that seems to be the view the market has taken too ...... have seen sp follow exactly this pattern for the same reason in the past

lets all hope so. I will not be buying any more, I have enough. Good luck all holding.
