<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

In an attempt to determine the immediate SP of DES during the next week or two, there's certainly room for a rise to 170p. Just an uneducated guess )

BB - yours is a bit of a dozy Q it must be said ..... firstly of course, it will be 3/4/5 years from date of discovery (if!!!) until everything comes on stream ... as for markets - doh!! .... and for moving the oil to a refinery, i would expect a pipeline to be constructed - but of course all this will have been worked out in advance, at least in principle

Balerboy - 22 Feb 2010 08:34 - 3688 of 6492

we'll see, still think to compare to cairn is crap. if it's 3/4/5 years then why is it being ramped by you now. A max of 2 at the mo.

The way to play this : would be pump up the sp to 200p plus and sell, then the company comes up with a dry well...short big time....sp crashes...2nd well, go long....a strike...sp rockets....then short....3rd well, go long ..sell at the top, then short...it turns out to be a duster....and so forth......masterly non ?...

cynic - 22 Feb 2010 08:40 - 3690 of 6492

primarily because lemmings get carried away with excitement, but also because once (if!!) a company has found oil, it's not only future money in the bank, but it also enhances its desirability to predators, to make a rather bad pun

I am not holding but considering buying, does anyone think the Argies could get involved as they do not sound very happy.
If they did, with our troops tied up in Iraq and Afgan what could we do?
