<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

today's rise almost certainly just a bear squeeze ....... finding oil is usually reckoned at 20%, so i would hazard more like 33% or maybe a bit shorter .... ultimately, DES will score or fail (on this well) 100%

halifax - 04 Mar 2010 17:08 - 3822 of 6492

cynic so do you have long and a short positions?

required field - 04 Mar 2010 20:22 - 3823 of 6492

markymar - 05 Mar 2010 08:07 - 3825 of 6492

well its racing away today as thought......not a share like it on the stockmarket that has its own mind....intresting times at moment as they should be drilling in to Liz or very near it.......are there oil shows?....the last shell well drilled was free flowing and was capped its a shame it was $10 a barrel back then.

required field - 05 Mar 2010 08:14 - 3826 of 6492

No it isn't !....we would not be drilling it today and I would not have shares in DES.....

robstuff - 05 Mar 2010 09:10 - 3827 of 6492

I think the chances are much greater 50/50 for me - still a gamble but then there's several holes to drill and only takes one to be a gusher.

markymar - 05 Mar 2010 11:09 - 3828 of 6492

halifax - 05 Mar 2010 12:24 - 3829 of 6492

markymar - 05 Mar 2010 12:38 - 3830 of 6492

The only negative is you Halifax, every thing on the OG is going to plan....so dont worry your little cotton socks.

robstuff - 05 Mar 2010 13:23 - 3831 of 6492

cynic - 05 Mar 2010 13:35 - 3832 of 6492

no news is no news for none expected just yet

halifax - 05 Mar 2010 14:13 - 3833 of 6492

no doubt those working on OG will be keeping thir friends infomed so no news means no oil/gas.

watcher - 05 Mar 2010 14:29 - 3834 of 6492

think we got a little more time yet....even if you have friends working down there...what is another 10 days or so......

HARRYCAT - 05 Mar 2010 14:30 - 3835 of 6492

Everyone is becoming very nervous with T-? days & counting.
Trust no one is over exposed just in case the results are disappointing?

Whilst I have no knowledge of O&G platform procedures, I think it highly unlikely that rig personnel will be allowed unfettered access to communication systems. Certainly I would imagine their T&Cs would include disclosure of sensitive information criteria and their only form of communication will be via satellite phone or internet, both of which can be vetted (the FIs does have a mobile telephone system but the rig is out of range).

TheFrenchConnection - 05 Mar 2010 15:13 - 3837 of 6492

Premature to say with certainty butam inclined to agree with halifax / good news travels fastest.- via the most diverse routes . eg- can use sat fone boss its my kids b/day 8-)).../.-Bad news -well everyone remembers how PET stalled the issue of crap news ............../ Regardless of communications good news always gets out.............. reg trading- no indicators there- even stevens,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,edit

cynic - 05 Mar 2010 15:28 - 3838 of 6492

while no news is still no news, for sure if there had been early and unexpected oil, it would have leaked(!!) out

ptholden - 05 Mar 2010 15:30 - 3839 of 6492

TFC, guess you're referring to the use of a carrier pigeon? Daresay, you're right though, even the military have problems keeping a lid on on unwelcome news. The Chandler kidnap incident being a case in point.

TheFrenchConnection - 05 Mar 2010 15:52 - 3840 of 6492

......Carrier pidgeons? Sheeesh YUK !...had a neighbour years ago who had a squadron of them.... Sh** everywhere ...Everybodies roof within a 100 metre radius was white
