This is one to keep an eye on. If it does become even remotely as successful as Homeserve (HSV) then the shares will be motoring..............
Update: Mavinwood takes on Homeserve
LONDON (ShareCast) - Mavinwood, the cash shell turned support services firm, said current trading has been in line with expectations as it looks to take on Homeserve in the emergency services market.
Run by former British Gas executive Kevin Mahoney, who attempted to buy drain-cleaning firm Dyno-Rod last year before a large shareholder pulled out of the deal, the company recently acquired a similar business though the 25m acquisition of ANSA in June.
ANSA provides drain cleaning services and well as handling insurance claims. Mavinwood is hoping to use the business as a platform to create an Emergency Services division.
Kevin Mahoney is looking to expand the current services ANSA offers, moving into other avenues around the home, in a bid to provide customers with an alternative to home repair and services provider Homeserve. The group is looking to add on acquisitions to complement the business and hopes to announce a deal by the end of the year.
The other area of the business was started through the 6m acquisition of Restore in May, which provides data storage and document management services. Mahoney suggests this area too is ripe for consolidation and Mavinwood is already on the look out for deals.
Mavinwood reported a pre-tax loss of 122,000 for the six months to June against a loss of 81,000 last time, though this does not include trading from teh acquired businesses.
Forecasts expect the group to turn in a profit of some 1.5m for the year.

I got IN just in time. I hope you are right doc, I have looked at Homeserve (10.70) and did my own research about the prospect of Mavinwood (10p). Homeserves profit forecast for year ending Mar-05 is 30m from sales of 281m. And for Mar 06 35m from sales of 328m with EPS growth 13.65%, and in comparison Mavinwoods profit forecast for year ending Dec 05 is 2m from sales of just 15m., and for year ending Dec 06 3m from sales of 33m., which has an EPS growth of 42.11%
I think with the managements desire to acquire new business and EPS growth of over 42% MVW is a bargain at todays price.

Morning all.
More activity this morning than in the whole of last week !!!!
Seymour Pierce (house brokers) are pushing the price up (11-11.25p) at the moment.
There must be something positive in the pipeline.

Excellent link! I would have loved to top up, unfortunately lost heavily on PRTY. So will have to wait a bit before buying some more. For my sake I hope this great REVIEW on The Business, does not make the SP go up too much before I top up. It certainly has a great potential.

Excellent purchase announced this morning:
Mavinwood Plc ("Mavinwood"), the AIM listed support services company, has today announced the
acquisition of Wansdyke Security Limited ("Wansdyke"), a privately owned security storage company.
The consideration of 11.2 million has been funded by an 11million facility provided by Allied
Irish Banks p.l.c. with the balance from existing resources. Following this acquisition the net
debt of Mavinwood will be around 16million.
Wansdyke is a specialised off-site storage and management company and owns 1 million sq ft of
highly secure underground storage facilities outside Bath. The sites, which have been created from
natural stone mines, are 100ft underground and 130ft above the natural water table. It provides
storage facilities for a range of clients including insurance companies, health services and media
companies for live and archive files, medical records, x-ray materials, film and microfilm.
In the 12 months ending 30 September 2005, Wansdyke reported a pre-tax profit of 1.16million on a
turnover of 3.95million and at 30 September 2005 had net assets of 2.25million.
The results will be announced on the 14th March.
This is a bargain IMHO.

I also see they own restore, where also does that fit in?.
Any help appreciated.

Hi GF
There will be two distinct divisions to the Company:
the emergency services division, ANSA, which is taking on the likes of Homeserve (the dominant company in the sector with a marvellous share price performance to match - epic:HSV) and the data storage division (Restore and Wansdyke being the first two acquisitions) which will take on the likes of Microgen I presume.
Both are excellent sectors IMO and offer tremendous scope for growth. The onus is on the management to make attractive acquisitions to bolt onto the business.
So far it is looking promising.

Many thanks for that Ian, I was a little confused earlier. Homeserve is a fantastic business, I wish they had just gone down this 1 same route.
Still researching.
Many thanks again.

The offer price moves onto 14p.
Looking at the Homeserve price (now 16+) I am increasingly confident about the emergency services division of Mavinwood.
I understand the data storage business a little better and know that both Restore and Wansdyke are excellent businesses.
All in all there is a fair chance of at least hitting 20p around the time of the results.

Hello everybody.
This has livened up nicely in recent weeks.
Interesting action by the MM's today.
They are all quoting 13.25 bid and 14.25 offer yet no trade today (yet !!)
Taking no chances (as usual !!)

Forget the last post.
What I meant to say was the MM's have increased the offer price even after that sale of 100,000 shares just after 9am !!
It suggests a big buy order is in the process of being serviced.
Any sellers ought to get at least 13.5p (and probably a tad more).

Two possibilites:
the two big trades at 13.5p may have been buys (result: good news)
or the MM's are happy to absorb large lines of stock at a premium to the quoted bid price (result: very good news)
Either way the underlying trend seems to be extremely positive.

Hi Ianayel,
From experiance I can assure you that the two large trades are a buy. On 6th January I decided to add some more to my holdings, I bought 88,269 @11.50 but on the trade pages it appeared as a sell. I am sure orders for these trades were taken early but the trades appeared after the MMs marked up. Like they did with my order.
With the result due on 14th March it looks like some people think its worth a punt. If it follows Homeserve (HSV), we should be on to a winner. For me its a longterm buy and hold.

Kaysmart
Thanks for the info.
I thought this might be the case but had no previous experience of such 'shenanigans' so wasn't 100% sure.
I must confess I am tempted to add some more - not sure what to sell to pay for them though !!
