THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

That's an old Police van, and you don't see Police wearing that type helmet driving Police vans

The Beatles didn't ever dress like that either, aldwickk.

The cartoon is a take on the famous picture of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road on the pedestrian crossing and it is trying to be a "culturally significant effort". The cartoon causes the viewer to question what it is about and merely illustrates the possible way of the world these days.

The thing that is special about the picture is that in 2010 the Abbey Road zebra crossing in North London, which appeared on a Beatles album cover, was recognized with a grade II listed status by the British government.

The Department for Culture, Media, and Sport recognized the crossing's status following English Heritage's advice for its "cultural and historical importance," according to Abbey Road Studios's website. The crossing is near Abbey Road Studios, a recording venue once used by the Beatles, which was listed earlier that year.

The crossing is the first of its kind to be listed for its "unique special interest," according to BBC News.

The Abbey Road became famous after the Beatles were photographed on the crossing by Scottish photographer Ian Macmillan for their 1969 album Abbey Road.

Way back then in the '60's' it was the Beatles. Nowadays the people of significance using the crossing are quite possible to be armed IS jihadists.

Is that culturally significant?

Hmmm? Most probably.

I just remembered the 4 British jihadists were called the Beatles, now the photo makes sense.

They didn't dress like that when they walked across that road. Maybe when they filmed Sargent Pepper ?

About 1,400 Rotherham children 'sexually exploited over 16-year period'

Report claims police and council agencies failed victims, some of whom were threatened with guns and gang-raped

About 1,400 children were sexually exploited in Rotherham over a 16-year period, according to a report that concluded "it is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse that child victims suffered".

The uncompromising report on events in the South Yorkshire town between 1997 and 2013 said in more than a third of these cases the youngsters were already known to child protection agencies.

Warning also of "blatant" collective failures by the council's leadership, the report by Professor Alexis Jay prompted the resignation of the council's Labour leader.

Roger Stone, the leader, said: "Having considered the report, I believe it is only right that I, as leader, take responsibility on behalf of the council for the historic failings that are described so clearly in the report and it is my intention to do so.

"For this reason, I have today agreed with my Labour group colleagues that I will be stepping down as leader with immediate effect."

"Despite Stone's resignation, chief executive Martin Kimber said no council officers will face disciplinary action."

The report said: "By far the majority of perpetrators were described as Asian by victims." But, she said, councillors seemed to think is was a one-off problem they hoped would go away and "several staff described their nervousness about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought racist".

:-)

Hmmm?

Maybe that's why the South Yorkshire Police raided Cliff Richards house , because of their inaction in Rotherham all those years ago. Now they get one person claiming Cliff Richard sexually assaulted him in 1985 and they go on a witch hunt to show how robust they are in quickly investigating it

indeed aldwickk, all diversion....don't look here, nothing to see...look here instead!

Hopefully, those in charge of things, whilst the kids in Rotherham were being so numerously and so badly abused, will now be brought to account.

THE PAEDOFILE: Rolf Harris case…..a travesty in Court, and the corporacratic motives behind it

aldwickk - 27 Aug 2014 09:40 - 45235 of 81564

The Judge Mr. Justice Sweeney QC told the jury to accept that Harris was at Leigh Park Community Centre where one offence was supposed to have taken place – although the evidence to prove this is without any media confirmation: after trawling through 7 years of newspaper archives by the prosecution, no reference to Rolf Harris at the event was found. Nor was any mention found in any council records, nor did any local person remember anything

But a video of him at Leigh Park Community Centre on that day was shown , it was also shown on all BBC & ITV news

MaxK - 27 Aug 2014 09:46 - 45236 of 81564

There was a video of him there on the day?

Why wasn't the court aware of this??

To the court at the trial?

aldwickk - 27 Aug 2014 11:59 - 45239 of 81564

It was shown on all the main TV channels , BBC ,ITV

What was the source of the video? It may be inadmissible as evidence if the date cannot be proved.
