Does anyone know how to print or dump (to file) MoneyAm L2 screens shots?

Thanks.

robber - 09 May 2003 13:38 - 442 of 11003

axdpc,

trying holding down Ctrl then hitting the 'PrintScreen' button. The screen image should now be on clipboard so can be pasted into paint. From paint either print or save the image.

Theres also an application called screen grab pro which does the job a bit slicker;

robber, thanks. Will try.

the troll - 09 May 2003 19:23 - 444 of 11003

Think it's ALT+PrintScreen for the active window, PrintScreen on its own for the whole screen, though you may have problems with the latter on a multi-screen setup.

robbber, the troll

The following works fine. Thanks.

CTL+PrintScreen ---> clipboard ---> paint

Will play around to see if I can dump a scrollable window to the clipboard.

axdpc, I downloaded a program from www.tucows.com called spx which will grab screenshots of whatever you want and save them in jpg format. I've used them for the screenshots in the Sharescope eod thread (You inspired me after you set up your diy thread!).

Mr Euro - 13 May 2003 10:08 - 447 of 11003

This is going to sound really dumb. I have 2 computers and three screens. I want to link the 3 monitors and 1 laptop together. However as I expectd when I link a monitor to a laptop all I get is the same screen on both. I expected this as I've dont it before but how do I link the monitors so they are independant?!?

Thanks.

the troll - 13 May 2003 12:23 - 448 of 11003

Mr Euro - not sure I understand the question... What would you like to see on the external monitor you're plugging into the laptop? An extension of the laptop's desktop? Fairly sure that can't be done - the same video card feeds the built-in screen and any external monitor connected (at least on any laptop I've come across) - if a laptop did support two monitors I'd expect there to be two external monitor sockets.

Mr Euro - 13 May 2003 12:37 - 449 of 11003

Troll, what I really want is to link up to 3 monitors which are independent of each other but running of the same system. Thanks.

the troll - 13 May 2003 12:44 - 450 of 11003

If by "independent" you mean sitting side by side to give a huge desktop, look at a thread called "What is parhelia" - it's still on the front page of the list.

If you mean totally separate, to effectively have 3 environments running their own desktops and applications... no - you need more computers :-)

Mr Euro - 13 May 2003 13:02 - 451 of 11003

:-) Thanks

Trader2 - 13 May 2003 13:36 - 454 of 11003

Mr E - I'm quite techie - wondered if I could help with your monitor point - which needs some discussion - wondered if u were v close. If u want to mail me on trader2@btinternet.com we can set up a call if u want.

Mr Euro - 13 May 2003 14:13 - 455 of 11003

Trader thanks for the offer, will drop you a line.

Optimist - 13 May 2003 14:23 - 456 of 11003

Mr Euro

Some laptops allow you to display a seperate screen on the external monitor.

If yours supports this, make sure that the external monitor is enabled then right click on tghe desktop, select properties then select the settings tab. You should see two blue squares labled 1 & 2. Select the No 2 one and there should be a check box underneath "Extend my desktop over this monitor. Check this and click OK you should then have a two screen system.

PeterG - 13 May 2003 14:40 - 457 of 11003

Optimist,

Do you know which laptops have this feature? I need to get a new laptop soon, and it would be really handy to plug in an external monitor which would then display a different image from the built-in monitor (e.g. one monitor showing a chart, the other one showing the Finspreads trading screen). What do I need to look for in the specs? Thanks in advance.

Mr Euro - 13 May 2003 15:07 - 458 of 11003

Thats great Optimist, thank you very much. Off to llok.

the troll - 13 May 2003 15:43 - 459 of 11003

Cor! I'd be interested in one too - any ideas about specific models/manufacturers? Do they allow two external monitors instead of one built-in and one external?
