THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

True George me included. I had to go to school in wellingtons in the summer for 5 years my family were that poor. But my father was in full time work and had a good manual job as a pattern maker.

The point im trying to make is that their is one or two on this thread who havent had to scrape by and have no idea how hard it is for some of the poor especially today.

They associate them with SKY TV, Cigs, drinking beer and drugs which couldnt be further from the truth for most poor people. They listen to silly documentaries on TV and read right wing clap trap in the news papers.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:01 - 47002 of 81564

i wouldn't call pattern making manual, let alone unskilled
average pay nowadays in that role is £18/26,000 pa, presumably based well north of watford, so you'll get more for your money there

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 17:18 - 47003 of 81564

Cant see what your posting cynic Ive had you filtered since yesterday morning along with your 2 partners Chris Carson and Doodelbug4.

hilary - 07 Oct 2014 17:19 - 47004 of 81564

Actually, cyners, having watched my own children go through the education system in recent years, I think the standard of teaching has improved drastically since I rebelled against the nuns who taught me.

But, I do agree, exams have been dumbed down and the use of modules only makes things worse.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:22 - 47005 of 81564

i wasn't complaining about the teachers per se, but i certainly think there is a tendency to set pupil aspiration too low

MaxK - 07 Oct 2014 17:32 - 47006 of 81564

And too many of them are useless, form ticking nonentities.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:35 - 47007 of 81564

to some extent, it's what the system demands
i think there are similar probs for docs and pharmacists

Isnt it too late for the Brutus solution?

Haystack - 07 Oct 2014 17:58 - 47010 of 81564

Far too late unless Ed falls on his sword. More likely carries a pencil sharpener and a pocket full of pencils for his homework. It is back to the sixth form for him after the election.

Fred1new - 07 Oct 2014 18:08 - 47011 of 81564

You are talking about your future MP.

Then Manuel will have his pension frozen and have to get a job as a pattern worker earning about £18,000 a year.

Should cover his meals out.

--------

Sorry, forgot, he has fish and chips with a mug of tea when he is out.

doodlebug4 - 07 Oct 2014 18:10 - 47012 of 81564

Perhaps a future MP Fred, but not a future PM!

Fred1new - 07 Oct 2014 18:21 - 47013 of 81564

W/see!

MaxK - 07 Oct 2014 19:50 - 47014 of 81564

If you had some saucy pictures of yourself or other half, would you post them on a public computer or would you keep them on your personal hard drive?

Jennifer Lawrence denounces nude photo hack as a 'sex crime'

Actor says websites are responsible and that the theft and online publication of photos are ‘a sexual violation’

Jessica Glenza in New York

theguardian.com, Tuesday 7 October 2014 17.47 BST

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence has called the theft and publication of nude photos of her a “sex crime” in the actor’s first public comments since dozens of nude celebrity photos werestolen by hackers.

“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair contributing editor Sam Kashner in an interview to promote new movie Serena. “It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting.”

“The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these websites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.”

Nude photos of Lawrence were stolen from the actor’s Apple iCloud account and published by hackers on the website 4chan, along with naked photos of around 100 other female celebrities.

First alleged Isil terror plot on UK foiled amid growing fears of beheadings

Four men arrested in London suspected of plotting "significant" attack in UK with alleged links to Syria terror group Isil

The first alleged Isil-linked terror plot on UK soil has been foiled by police and MI5 amid fears jihadists are returning from Syria to carry out beheadings on British streets.

Four men were arrested in dramatic armed raids in London during which one suspect had to be Tasered by police.

The men are feared to have been in the “early stages” of planning a “significant” attack and it is understood one line of inquiry is whether they wanted to emulate the sort of brutal execution that has become Isil’s hallmark on a British street.

goldfinger - 08 Oct 2014 08:26 - 47017 of 81564

VICTIM - 08 Oct 2014 08:31 - 47018 of 81564

goldfinger - 08 Oct 2014 08:33 - 47019 of 81564

VICTIM - 08 Oct 2014 08:35 - 47020 of 81564
