British Gas to acquire connected homes company AlertMe
British Gas is to acquire AlertMe, a UK-based connected homes company that provides innovative energy management products and services. The net cost to British Gas will be £44 million, taking into account an existing 21% holding in AlertMe. It is anticipated that the transaction will close by the end of the first quarter of 2015.

AlertMe provides the technical platform that underpins British Gas's existing connected homes activity, including its remote heating control product, Hive Active Heating. The acquisition gives British Gas ownership and control over a scalable technology platform, software development capability, data analytics and a patent portfolio. This demonstrates our continued commitment to innovate for our customers and reinforces British Gas's leading position in connected homes in the UK.

The acquisition will also enable further development of connected homes products and services in other parts of the Centrica Group, through Direct Energy in North America, and Bord Gáis in the Republic of Ireland.

What a complete waste of money the share buy backs over the last 2 years has been. 2013 a total of £502m @ £3.64p (ave) and for 2014 £422m @ £3.18p. Not far short of £1b----total disaster.

I am hesitant about buying anything, but at the moment I have heavy holdings of TW, BARC (at a loss),AHT,RDW, EZJ, TCG (slight loss, stupid), GKN,BKG, VOD(stupidity) OML(with hope and guess work), Small holding of Lloyds (dumped and bougth? lucky) and and smaller holdings of some I wish I didn't.

Three dogs which interest me and thought/think will do well and are recovering Accys Techologies and EPO and CRX. (Just looked in profit on epo and CRX. expect Accys to reward my grandchildren.

Perhaps the above are worth a look. Some are close to upper tramlines and if there is a pull back, may be worth buying afterwards as long as Putin doesn't put his boot in.
