ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Good for either a stew or the dog!

cynic - 29 Jan 2014 14:55 - 4982 of 5941

shows what you know about good quality beef :-)

Shortie - 29 Jan 2014 15:17 - 4983 of 5941

Would it not depend on how you planned on cooking it?

cynic - 29 Jan 2014 15:26 - 4984 of 5941

in this instance, no ..... it's a top-class piece of sirloin .... the marbling and darker colour is exactly what you want to see ..... unfortunately most people buy from the damned supermarkets instead of supporting their local butchers (and fishmongers and greengrocers), which is why so few now survive

Balerboy - 29 Jan 2014 15:45 - 4985 of 5941

Here here cynic....... now I'm off to tesco's.....

Shortie - 29 Jan 2014 16:05 - 4986 of 5941

As a connoisseur of wines and dining Cynic I'll take your word for it and happily say I've learnt something new today as I never knew that... Not often do we buy steaks though, normally its a joint and 9/10 times a silverside one for roasting.. Steaks tend to be more a thing when eating out.. Something I could do with reading up on as I've always found butchery a fascinating subject and something which really we should have been taught in school rather than making cakes.

cynic - 29 Jan 2014 16:31 - 4987 of 5941

well i don't bake at home; just on the odd cookery master-class
do you have a decent and real butcher near you?
if so, go there and make friends with him so he doesn't flog you off any old crap
much better, tastier and more tender for roasting than silverside, though more expensive, would be (rolled) ribs - but make sure there isn't too much fat - i.e. don't let the butcher screw you over

if you want some really cheap (good value) recipes - meat or fish - then go to the COOK thread here .... if nothing there for you, post what sort of thing you'ld like

Shortie - 29 Jan 2014 16:55 - 4988 of 5941

He's like the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang our local butcher is... He's always doing deals but you have to watch him.. He's very good in the summer for BBQ stuff, chinese chicken and lamb. Always looking to sell you a rabbit...

I think a read is in order followed by maybe a visit to the farmers markets and a weekend of cooking and tasting... This will go nicely with my new found interest in brewing..

cynic - 29 Jan 2014 16:59 - 4989 of 5941

farmers' markets are not a guarantee of quality either i'm afraid

in fact, you can get exceedingly high quality meat on line, always assuming you have a freezer - e.g. www.donaldrussell.com ..... perhaps check out that site for starters

cynic - 31 Jan 2014 11:52 - 4990 of 5941

this stock must surely be right for shorting, even if i rarely call it correctly myself!

Shortie - 31 Jan 2014 12:48 - 4991 of 5941

Since having my innoculations for The Gambia I've been feeling really rough and drained.. As such I'm not looking to short here until I can give it my full attention.

cynic - 31 Jan 2014 12:50 - 4992 of 5941

how long will you be there for?

Shortie - 31 Jan 2014 12:58 - 4993 of 5941

Just a week, still will have internet access so expect I'll still be online... I've got next week to recover from these jabs also (yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis & DPT).. Then the following week I should be off.. I'll look to pick up trading again on my return, week commencing 17th Feb...

cynic - 31 Jan 2014 13:07 - 4994 of 5941

typhoid's prob the one that nailed you

Shortie - 31 Jan 2014 13:13 - 4995 of 5941

Thats exactly what collegues have said Cynic, just makes work twice the effort it normally is..

robinhood - 31 Jan 2014 14:03 - 4996 of 5941
