THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

He's already won his debate on who should be invited to take part in the television circus. The whole issue has developed into an utter farce. Galloway is now threatening to sue if he is excluded.

MaxK - 23 Jan 2015 20:27 - 55682 of 81564

Ah, ok.

So he's killed the debate is more like it. (or tried to)

Wont work, there's any number of ways of narrowing it down.

doodlebug4 - 23 Jan 2015 20:34 - 55683 of 81564

Cameron and Miliband?

MaxK - 23 Jan 2015 20:37 - 55684 of 81564

For instance.

Tele peeps can say its only for national sized parties, ie, you must be fielding more than say 300 candidates, that gets rid of the small fry leaving the big orgs to fight it out....it also gets rid of wee-eck lol

Haystack - 23 Jan 2015 20:41 - 55685 of 81564

There is going to be one Cameron / Miliband debate. The other ones will be a comedy program. Only worth watching for the amusement factor. I can't wait for Nicola Sturgeon to take Farage apart.

Haystack - 23 Jan 2015 20:42 - 55686 of 81564

The TV companies have already agreed to the 7 way debate.

Fred1new - 23 Jan 2015 20:44 - 55687 of 81564

Haze,

You seem to be having a personality split!

MaxK - 23 Jan 2015 20:50 - 55688 of 81564

Why would the fragrant Nicola take Farage apart, even if she could?

Far more likely she would go after Cameroon and Millipede.

Haystack - 23 Jan 2015 21:04 - 55689 of 81564

Farage is pretty anti SNP. He is also very much against SNP being able to vote on any English laws and has been quite rude about the SNP and the referendum. You are right about Nicola attacking Lab, Con and Lb due to their strong support of the NO vote.

Fred1new - 23 Jan 2015 22:14 - 55690 of 81564

Perhaps, she might concentrate on presenting her own policies rather the joining the smart arses Cameron and Farage in the school playground.

doodlebug4 - 23 Jan 2015 22:26 - 55691 of 81564

She seems to be doing that rather well at the moment Fred2old;

An SNP candidate has won a council by-election in Fife.

Marie Penman won the seat in Kirkcaldy East by 372 votes. Labour were second and the Conservatives a distant third.

The council seat is within former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown's Westminster constituency.

Ms Penman said: "It is a huge privilege to be elected as the SNP councillor for Kirkcaldy East ward. I am delighted at the overwhelming support of the communities here."

She added: "I pledge to repay their trust by working hard for this area over the coming months and years.

"There are a number of significant challenges facing the communities here and residents can rest assured that I will give nothing less than my absolute best in pursuit of a better future for this area."

The by-election was called following the resignation of former SNP councillor Arthur Morrison, after newspapers revealed he received his £16,000 salary while living in Austria.

At the council elections in 2012, Mr Morrison finished third in the multi-member ward behind Labour councillors Lawrence Brown and Kay Carrington.

Councillor Douglas Chapman, the SNP representative for Rosyth, said: "This SNP victory in Gordon Brown's backyard will chill Labour to the core across Scotland."

Revealed: how Blair colluded with Gaddafi regime in secret

Libyan government papers pieced together by team of London lawyers show how UK cosied up to Tripoli over dissidents

Tony Blair wrote to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi to thank him for the “excellent cooperation” between the two countries’ counter-terrorism agencies following a period during which the UK and Libya worked together to arrange for Libyan dissidents to be kidnapped and flown to Tripoli, along with their families.

The letter, written in 2007, followed a period in which the dictator’s intelligence officers were permitted to operate in the UK, approaching and intimidating Libyan refugees in an attempt to persuade them to work as informants for both countries’ agencies.

Addressed “Dear Mu’ammar” and signed “Best wishes yours ever, Tony”, the letter was among hundreds of pages of documents recovered from Libyan government offices following the 2011 revolution and pieced together by a team of Ltondon lawyers.

The lawyers are bringing damages claims on behalf of a dozen Gaddafi opponents who were targeted by the two countries’ agencies during the covert cooperation. The claimants were variously detained and allegedly mistreated in Saudi Arabia, rendered from Mali to Libya, or detained and subjected to control orders in the UK.

MaxK - 23 Jan 2015 23:44 - 55694 of 81564

And your guys knew nothing about it...yeah right, I believe it.

goldfinger - 24 Jan 2015 00:04 - 55695 of 81564

For what its worth I AGREE WITH HAYS for once.

Posters forgetting the first invasion of Kuwait and all those murdered in cold blood plus all the oil fields set alight.

The man had an agenda, he had to be taken out.

Nuclear in his hands would have been a catastrophe.

People have short memories.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Haystack - 24 Jan 2015 00:07 - 55696 of 81564

I have no idea who knew about it . it wouldn't surprise me if it was just Blair plus a few. Otherwise it would have leaked out before. There are security implications, so only a few would have known.

goldfinger - 24 Jan 2015 00:39 - 55697 of 81564

I think for once you are being fair Hays. I agree and its not just because its a labour thing.

ANY PM of this country would have been drawn in with BUSH and thats a fact.

Its ok being on the outside, you have to take into account WHAT THEY HAD THERE IN FRONT OF THEM AT THAT TIME.

Nobody wants war, yes it may have beeen a massive mistake and a terrible error of judgement but I still dont think they lied at the time OPERATIONS STARTED.

And like YOU say post war plans were poor , shite in fact.

That was the crime of the day, not the war.

Fred1new - 24 Jan 2015 08:38 - 55698 of 81564

Haze,

The letter is in a similar vein to Cameron kowtowing up the red carpet to Saudi leaders who are responsible for whip lashing, stoning to death, beheading and financing "terrorists" in and outside Saudi Arabia.

If you wish to smear, start closer at home?

Amnesty International: 'West deeply hypocritical over Saudi'

23 January 2015 Last updated at 19:04 GMT

The funeral of King Abdullah is taking place in Saudi Arabia after his death overnight at the age of 90.

His 79-year-old half-brother, Salman, has been confirmed as his successor.
The state of human rights and women's rights and the turbulent state of the region make the king's death and the succession particularly sensitive.
Salil Shetty, Amnesty International's secretary general, said "Saudi has got away with much more than any other state" in term of human rights abuses.
He said that the West was hypocritical to support such a state.

GF,

The Iraq war was unnecessary ignore International advice from Hans Blix and his team, showed poor judgement by Blair. Who knows why Bush's and the Neo-cons in America wanted to do it. (Settling old scores and oil comes to mind.)

Could Blair have said NO.

Yes Wilson said know to Vietnam and he was right to.

-------

Much of the M.E. problem to-day could be put down to the "intervention", as well as not resolving the Palestinian Israeli PROBLEM in a satisfactory manner.

========

A reformed and stronger United Nations is required as the USA "police force" withdraws from the scenes of "conflict".

Mind you could send Captain Marvel Cameron with George at the wheel in a gun boat to resolves any problems. The enemy might laugh themselves to death!

A Yougov poll has found that 3 out of 4 voters don't know anything about Green party policies. I expect the figure is higher than that for UKIP. And that includes the UKIPers and their supporters.
