Traders Thread - Week commencing Monday 01st October 2018 (TRAD)

CC - 04 Oct 2018 10:27 - 41 of 59

Good morning.

Another annoying day so far. Whilst the banks are up a bit, my INTU, HMSO, BLND are all struggling.

Something to do with statements from RBS possibly on Brexit.

Stan - 04 Oct 2018 10:57 - 43 of 59

Skinny your above link doesn’t work.

skinny - 04 Oct 2018 10:58 - 44 of 59

Post 42? - yes it does.

Stan - 04 Oct 2018 11:06 - 45 of 59

Skinny, Well it didn’t 5 minutes ago have you changed the link as that looks different and does work?

skinny - 04 Oct 2018 11:07 - 46 of 59

No - only posted it the once.

Stan - 04 Oct 2018 11:10 - 47 of 59

How very strange some odd things going on here lately.

CC - 04 Oct 2018 11:29 - 48 of 59

Right - off to stick my head in the sand and hope my portfolio looks better later.

5 stocks down by more than 2.5%, nothing up apart from LLOY and RBS and overall not a great day.

Wondering just how long we can go on with this. As long as Brexit I guess.

CC - 04 Oct 2018 16:39 - 50 of 59

At individual stock level worst day for a very long time. Fortunately stake sizing mitigates size of loss, and got a few stocks up a tiny bit.

HMSO down 6%, BLND down 5.2%, LWB down 5.1%, INTU down 3.2%

Rest fine. Hopefully tomorrow will look different

sutherlh1 - 04 Oct 2018 17:57 - 51 of 59

BLnd ex div today, so only down 4% or so. Near 5 year lows, maybe a buy soon, Brexit depending? H

Fred1new - 04 Oct 2018 18:16 - 52 of 59

Don't worry, I have been told that everything will be better after Brexit.

skinny - 05 Oct 2018 05:56 - 53 of 59

Good Morning.

The Papers

Stan - 05 Oct 2018 07:38 - 54 of 59

Morning all.

CC - 05 Oct 2018 07:39 - 55 of 59

Good morning. Possible offer for INTU today. Once again an example of just how much the city keep selling down UK shares only for a party to step in and take advantage.

Closed at 149p I suspect the offer may be around 200p. My breakeven is 208p but right now I'll take £2 and redeploy my capital elsewhere

skinny - 05 Oct 2018 07:50 - 56 of 59

Unilever withdraws proposal to move to Netherlands

Good Luck with INTU - I sold out some time ago.

kimoldfield - 05 Oct 2018 07:57 - 57 of 59

Good morning!

CC - 05 Oct 2018 09:54 - 58 of 59

Yes I sold out of INTU at about 330 and then starting buying it on the way back down only to watch it fall to a price that to me was unimaginable when I started.

I've been lucky today. This gets me out of a hole. INTU was the only stock in my portfolio that was causing me real financial pain. I have other losers, but none with the kind of stake size I had on INTU.

I'm not sure what the bid price will be. 200p represents about a 33% increase from last nights close but it would still be a massive discount to NAV. I'll hold and see what happens.

CC - 05 Oct 2018 16:42 - 59 of 59

FTSE down another zillion today on top of yesterday.

Actually not too bad for me which I'm thankful for.

Got a few dividend pennies to spend but I think I'll sit on that decision for the moment. Can't decided what my attitude to risk is right now.
