It looks to be trading into a wedge on the 1-minute, H. Waiting now for break.

Harlosh - 22 Sep 2006 14:47 - 6042 of 11056

Yes spotted that Hilary. I'm hoping it breaks up but could go either way I think..

Speculative Sentiment Index (SSI)

As of September 21, 2006 (10:00 EST, 14:00 GMT)

The ratio of longs to shorts in the GBP/USD is -3.91, which is above the extreme +/- 3 range. The ratio has remained mostly net short for the past week, coinciding with another 172 pips gain in the sterling. Long positions are down by 44 percent while short positions are up by 57 percent bringing total positioning 14 percent higher. Looking ahead, as the ratio grows more net short sterling strength is likely.

Well I was going to say this morning before I got called out, that 1.91 looks to be a fairly important barrier right now if we were to suppose that cable's still in a longer term decline from the end of 2004. Just a thought anyway. Next time it challenges today's high and the momentum carries it through, 1.95 should easily be achievable.
IMO :)

hilary - 22 Sep 2006 17:31 - 6045 of 11056

I think you're right, Choccy. I still feel that it'll reach $2 this year.

MightyMicro - 22 Sep 2006 17:46 - 6046 of 11056

Doomed! Doomed! We're all doomed!

And pipped to the post . . . ;-)

Seymour Clearly - 25 Sep 2006 10:02 - 6047 of 11056

Thanks for the update to the calendar. Anyone any clues, or is it a meandering sort of day? And as I post a drop kicks in...

goforit - 25 Sep 2006 10:15 - 6048 of 11056

I went short about 10 mins ago , not a very good entry.
P.s. Hi everyone

bakko - 25 Sep 2006 10:15 - 6049 of 11056

Morning SC

No big news today but one of the Fed characters is giving a speech on the US economy later so it'll probably move a touch then.

Edit..It's moving already!

Seymour Clearly - 25 Sep 2006 12:28 - 6050 of 11056

Well, after that post I got really busy so this is my first look since then. Looking at it with hindsight I think I'd have made perfect trades today, caught the bottom, sold at the top and the swings inbetween....

Then again, .....

:-)

hilary - 25 Sep 2006 13:33 - 6051 of 11056

Don't know if you guys are aware, but there was a report in the FT today that said John Gieve considered voting to raise rates in September. This is being attributed to the rise in Asian trade which knocked-on into early London trade. My feeling is that cable would have been around 50 pips lower by now and testing support of last week's uptrend at around 1.8960 if it weren't for Gieve's remarks.

bakko - 25 Sep 2006 13:51 - 6052 of 11056

Thanks Hils.

There was a very brief mention of this on squawk box first thing this morning but it didnt say which paper it was published in. I'll try to track it down later.

bakko - 25 Sep 2006 13:58 - 6053 of 11056

Page 3 of the FT!! That Clara Furse!!! PHWWOOAAAARR!!!!!

Hils, re: Gieve's remarks -- does that still mean I'm Doomed or not, ye ken?

hilary - 25 Sep 2006 14:41 - 6058 of 11056

Of course you're still doomed. Choccie and I will make sure of that.

:o)

Robb - 25 Sep 2006 15:15 - 6059 of 11056

Afternoon peeps

Just a quick question. I'm out of touch with current opinion on fx brokers. Considering the likes of fxcm, oanda, cms, cmc etc, are there any to make sure I avoid or are they much of a muchness?

Thanks
Rob

goforit - 25 Sep 2006 15:53 - 6060 of 11056

Rob, think its goforex that has a review of fx brokers(mainly american) and they sound much the same, all pretty negative.

Still short from this am, tight stop, but like the look of the 4hourly chart
