THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Did the ORB survey do a poll on how the rest of the also-rans would do?

Haystack - 08 Sep 2015 00:07 - 62402 of 81564

Yes. Follow the link.

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2015 07:58 - 62403 of 81564

Drones are clever but crude.

Hammond drawing up a hit lit is even cruder.

The response may be a drawing up of hit-lists of UK targets abroad and the UK. in even cruder methods attacking them.

Defending those targets will be difficult and costly.

Stupidity of overgrown schoolboys.

jimmy b - 08 Sep 2015 08:09 - 62406 of 81564

Go back to bed Fred you blithering moron ,you shouldn't be out of your room this early .

cynic - 08 Sep 2015 08:16 - 62407 of 81564

HIT LIST ABROAD
drones may be crude - i think they're a very clever bit of engineering and computer technology myself - but they're clearly pretty effective and an awful lot more accurate and precise than even modern-day letter-box bombs

personally, i'm delighted that these two guys have been taken out and shall not mourn if others go the same way

HOWEVER, while I am perfectly satisfied that the intelligence on which this strike was made was accurate and the justification for the action well understood and accepted, it still feels like the start of a potentially slippery slope

morally, in my opinion, it is easily justified, but from a legal point of view (whatever that may mean), i'm not so sure

i have written long enough but am happy to expand further if requested

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2015 08:20 - 62408 of 81564

Jimmy,

I would think you are still drunk from the night before.

Have a lie down in a dark room and forget about yourself.

Whatever happens in the Labour leadership race, Jeremy Corbyn’s candidacy is not a calamity

I don't drink Fred ,it sounds like you take a lot of medication yourself though ,who else would post such drivel day after day and accuse anyone who doesn't agree with them of being Hitler .

cynic - 08 Sep 2015 08:26 - 62411 of 81564

my drains haven't been blocked for quite a while, so it can't be nearby

cynic - 08 Sep 2015 08:31 - 62412 of 81564

the effect of corbyn winning the labour leadership will not be as quite imagined ...... rather like betting on shares when something is a dead cert; it rarely works out as expected or as logic dictates

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2015 08:34 - 62413 of 81564

Manuel,

Always considered you as self-satisfied and short sighted!

Look at the likely response.

ISIS depends on its martyrs.

The actions carried out in this manner feeds their developments.

Listen to Fallon's patronising gloating defence of the action on BBC news could not have been done better by Cameron.

It is not the action but the consequences which count!

cynic - 08 Sep 2015 08:38 - 62414 of 81564

i have always had high regard as to your opinion of me

in this particular instance, what would you have done, given that the intelligence info was accurate?

would you have waited until something happened and then bemoaned the fact that no pre-emptive action was taken, even though there was compelling earlier evidence of the strong(est) likelihood of an attack?

TANKER - 08 Sep 2015 08:44 - 62415 of 81564

will so what do they do how much do you pay most earn not enough to pat tax not enough to pay the rent .
any tosser can post crap .

=-=-=-=-==

If you think I have compared you with Hitler I suggest you look at the "post" more carefully and the context the comparison was used, but if the cap fits wear it!

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2015 08:47 - 62417 of 81564

PS.

I am quite happy for you to C+P the post which "offended" you.

Surprised anything does!

MaxK - 08 Sep 2015 08:49 - 62418 of 81564

Peter Hitchens Claims David Cameron Has 'No Interest In Changing Anything'

Journalist and author Peter Hitchens has laid into David Cameron brutally, claiming the Prime Minister has "no interest in changing anything" and tries to keep only upper-class men in high Government posts.

In a wide-ranging interview with Guardian columnist Owen Jones, the brother of the late famed atheist Christopher Hitchens also accused the Tory leader of orchestrating a clever, costly election campaign which only won him the May general election on points, rather than as the result of a moral victory.

While he insisted the Prime Minister was a "perfectly nice chap", Hitchens claimed that Cameron did not stand for anything and decried the UK for being a bankrupt, non-sovereign and country robbed of both its culture and its past.
