THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Warren Mitchell aka Alf Garnet was actually playing the part of a racist fool ,the joke was on him as he once said in interview .

Manuel.

I was trying to praise you and gave up.

Just a thought.

I wonder why the UK and other European countries failed to instil the members of previous colonies, which they suppressed and governed for over a 400 year period, with more “humane and moral culture” or “standards” regarding the “life and its needs” on the country they were suppressing?

Why is it that those “terrorist” countries have poorer expectancies than other areas in the world, when their countries seemed previously worth plundering and pillaging for such long periods?

Was there a long time and ongoing failure by the colonists?

What is it that the terrorists which to achieve by their action and why is there a large silent community supporting them?

What are their supporters dissatisfied with and why do they seem to aid them with often little coercion.

Why are the “terrorists” groups able to obtain financing from wealthy donors?

How are they supplied with arms and weapons etc.? (Perhaps, Manuel will suggest that such situations provide good trading and business opportunities.) Demand and supply as the market wishes is good market philosophy.

=-===

When a clone is used by a group to dispatch a “terrorist”, how many innocent bystanders are kill as collateral damage?

Are the benefits of such action likely to be beneficial in the long-term to the instigator of the action?

Looking at Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria has the military interventions by the “West” been beneficial for those countries or the “West”.

Might is often useful but it is not always right and does not necessarily get the outcome you want. (This can be seen from above.)

It is interesting when I would think a coordinated by Europe would be appropriate there many who are trying to destroy the unity of the EU, for satisfaction of their own whims, when more cooperation and well thought out improvement in its organisation would seem more appropriate.

But again in the present situation is a World Situation and Needs more involvement of the United Nations.

-----
By the way, if it comes to have "boots" on the ground in the M.E. in general how many of you are volunteering members of your own family.

64533 reads like your usual abuse with nary a hint of anything complimentary

in the light of the mores of the time, the british did a very good job indeed in countries such as india, kenya and several other african countries
i'm afraid the same cannot be said of belgium in the congo

by and large, india has developed this framework, but some african countries in particular, have chosen a different and much "nastier" path ...... rhodesia is an excellent example that was left rich and prosperous and is is now a total wreck

one rather fears for south africa too

the arms trade has always existed and will continue to do so
you may not like it, but it is a fact of life and will always be so

it takes very few crazies to disrupt or even destroy the lives of the many, but it takes a great many to destroy the cancer of those few

FRED
instead of quoting us history the whole time, with your good fortune of unerring (a bit flattering that) hindsight, what action would you now propose being taken against ISIS?

i'm afraid you can't just wish that UN were better co-ordinated and stronger
it's a matter of fact that it is not, and for all sorts of reasons

so, i repeat the question ......
what action would you now propose being taken against ISIS?

Haystack - 14 Nov 2015 16:36 - 64544 of 81564

What a surprise!

French broadcaster BFMTV said that in addition to a Syrian passport found at the scene of a deadly stadium attack in the north of the city, an Egyptian passport was found close to the body of one of the assailants.

A Greek minister has said that the Syrian passport belonged to someone who had got into the EU via Greece in early October.

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:07 - 64545 of 81564

hundreds of terrorists from Syria are in Europe coming via Greece

all down to free movement of people no borders more bombs and guns
the eu is to blame . close the borders and send the migrants back put them on ships and then drop them off the shores of turkey .

we do not want the scum and terrorists ,
we were warned that they were coming and the leaders of Europe closed their eyes and ears . build a defence across the channel and shoot on site

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:08 - 64546 of 81564

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:11 - 64547 of 81564

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:20 - 64549 of 81564

Haystack - 14 Nov 2015 17:45 - 64554 of 81564

Gaza is not full of ISIL. The Palestinians in Gaza are strongly opposed to ISIL. The same is true of the Palestinians in the West Bank.

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:48 - 64555 of 81564

Palestine is full of terrorists and do not want peace the leaders retire to the sun
and their families then take the roll ,

hamas terrorists . fact not fiction

Fred1new - 14 Nov 2015 17:49 - 64556 of 81564

Manuel.

I still live with hope!

You can bury much in concrete, but social evolution will continue.

Human rights are recognised by more people now than 10-20-30-100 years ago.

One couldn't treat TB successfully a time ago. now you generally can.

The same applies to social conditions and standards.

For the majority, it is far "better" world to-day than it was 30-60years ago.

(Arms supply can be reduced and controlled. They said that the number guns in the UK couldn't be reduced, they have been, although there seems to be an increase recently. (I live in the country and I want my gun brigade or cowboys grumbled.))

International Laws would not eliminate guns or "explosives" but would reduce the amounts available.

Where there is a will there is a way, in spite of the greed which drives many to continue to satisfy themselves.

Perhaps, your doubt is because it doesn't suit your cause or raison d'etre .

Greed (financial or other), which is the basic driving force can be controlled.

=-=-=-=-=

I think to resolve the problem will need concerted policies in Europe firstly to address sensibly the self-caused immigration problems we have at present, which means accepting the problems we are partially responsible for. (Iraq, Libya and so on stimulated the "revolutionary zeals" of those who see themselves as underprivileged.

The involvement of the UN, USA, RUSSIA AND ALL THE M.E Countries is necessary to have a lasting solution.

But

If you know the problems with the UN, that is a good start to resolving them.

The one thing which will have to happen is that the so-called "developed nations" will have to reduce their expectancies in favour of improvements in the "underdeveloped nations", who will not continue to allow themselves to be plundered.

If not the present chaos will increase.

-==-=

Now I think I deserve a small glass of red.

Even if I don't deserve it.

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:50 - 64557 of 81564

all terrorists are the same just different names , hamas are terrorists and rule and no one is allowed to speak out they would be killed fact

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:54 - 64558 of 81564

Whitehall , today the terrorists in france came back from fighting in Syria

the uk has allowed hundreds to come back .. are we now safe

cynic - 14 Nov 2015 17:55 - 64559 of 81564

live with and in hope and by all means suggest ideas for the future .......

but what action would you propose should be taken NOW with regard to ISIS?

i'm afraid there isn't the luxury time for far-reaching reforms to be enacted that may or may help ....... i'm sure some might, but equally as many would not

SO WHAT ACTION WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR THE HERE AND NOW????

============

i would happily post my own, but past record shows that you would just take that as an excuse to rush off at a tangent to avoid answering the actual question asked

TANKER - 14 Nov 2015 17:59 - 64560 of 81564

cynic . in my view I would call a meeting of all eu countries and Russia usa and assad and attack isil with full force and blow them to hell flatten the whole area .
no one to walk away ,
