Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Cynic----''The pretty Christmas market and medieval setting may look idyllic, but at Christmas and New Year the area around Cologne Cathedral is a notorious danger zone when it comes to pickpockets and theft.'' ----This is no different to many big cities in the UK.
Now the sexual harassment, and in one case rape, of dozens of women has shocked Germany.
A man was powerless to help his partner and 15 year old daughter when they were surrounded and both females breasts were grabbed and they were groped between their legs. A volunteer policewoman was also sexually molested

2517,
We are lucky in the UK:
Here are some key statistics about sexual violence:
Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year; that's roughly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour
Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in England and Wales each year
1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16
Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence choose to report to the police
Approximately 90% of those who are raped know the perpetrator prior to the offence
These figures come from An Overview of Sexual Offending in England and Wales, the first ever joint official statistics bulletin on sexual violence released by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Office for National Statistics (ONS) and Home Office in January 2013.

Fred.
Those stats for England and Wales are pretty meaningless as a defense for the german rapes, unless you publish like for like figs.
It's fairly plain to see that Ma Merkel's open door policy is not doing the average German any favours.
I wonder what the real reason was for this disastrous policy?

As you appear to be stalking him (going by your post yesterday), Why don't you go round again knock on his door and ask for a glass of water, that way you may even get to meet your man.

Max.
I was not defending "rape" or the thuggish behaviour seen in Cologne.
But, exactly how many rapes were reported in the Cologne fracas?
And how many immigrants were in the crowds?
I would suggest drunken behaviour and thuggery was instigated by members of the German far right, who are using ethnicity and racial "fears" to appeal to followers and gain political "power".
Use of similar tactics can be seen, or propagated in this country many members of the far right, little Englanders, BNP, EDL, some members of UKIP and some masquerading as neo-cons.
=-=-=-=-=
I think if you look at the reason for Merkel reasoning for her "immigrant" policies you may find that unlike the present UK government, they are planning for the long-term economic future.
Germany did similar in the late 90s and early 2000s with benefit to their economy.
=-=-=-=-=
Also, there are humanitarian reasons and long-term international political benefits and gain from her actions.
At the moment, there is a stench around the "politicism" of the "immigrants" by the present UK government and its psychophants.

From the Independent
Labour reshuffle: Jeremy Corbyn faces backlash led by Tom Watson after sacking of Michael Dugher
The shadow Culture Secretary remains the only confirmed casualty after a day of confusion bordering on farce
Labour’s fragile unity is under intense strain as the party’s deputy leader, Tom Watson, leads a backlash against the sacking of a prominent shadow minister by Jeremy Corbyn.
On a day of confusion, bordering on farce, as the Labour leader agonised over his promised reshuffle, the only confirmed casualty was Michael Dugher, who was sacked as shadow Culture Secretary.
Within minutes of announcing he had been fired, Mr Dugher received statements of support from Mr Watson, eight other members of the Shadow Cabinet and a succession of Labour backbenchers.
