Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Ted1 - 09 Jun 2005 13:55 - 682 of 2787

Looks like a classic tree shake. Mm's need your shares. Selling at 41 42. Hold on potential to double your money by xmas. There not havin mine.

overgrowth - 09 Jun 2005 14:15 - 683 of 2787

Ted - doesn't the price normally go down rather than up with a tree shake?

It looks as though the tree's just been given some fertiliser - perhaps that's what deadfred's been on about all this time lol!

Ted1 - 09 Jun 2005 14:26 - 684 of 2787

og can't you shake a tree up. If the mm's haven't got any shares then they hike the price up and people sell to take a profit. Only the weak or short termers though. Hey I'm quite new to this but I bet a small retractment before the bell. What do we think to that.

Ted1 - 09 Jun 2005 14:28 - 685 of 2787

I take it all back. Nice lage 700k at 0.005! long time since I saw that. What the hell do I know anyway. Come on dead jump back on quick, I dare ya!!

overgrowth - 09 Jun 2005 14:33 - 686 of 2787

Ted - I think you mean retracement ?

I reckon the limits will stick as they are now - expect to see some late trades recorded around the close.

It's all a guessing game though, it's probably 50:50 as to which one of us gets it right lol!

overgrowth - 09 Jun 2005 14:34 - 687 of 2787

lol! I was doing other stuff and didn't notice the 700K buy - honest...

Afternoon all,

Just back from golf and very pleased to see a nice tick up. Can't say I am that surprised, we have been waiting a while and those of us who have been here for sometime know that the company has had a good H1.

Nice and steady increases up to the Interims will do just fine thank you very much.

Picked up a nice 250k before close last night !

overgrowth - 09 Jun 2005 14:56 - 690 of 2787

Afternoon pth - trust you had a good game.

Yes - good to see DGT finally moving up again. With performance so far showing that large profits are on the way I'm surprised that more weren't willing to pile in at the real bargain basement prices that we've seen over the past month or so.

It must be that investors prefer to pay more for a share showing upward momentum than take a gamble at picking the bottom.

Hi OG

Georgeous weather, played well on the front 9, nightmare on the back until I 'shot' an Eagle on the 17, so quite pleased.

I think the problem with very small caps is actually getting people to believe that the SP will respond. Much easier for us as we have done the research and have probably held shares for quite some time (nearly 2 years in my case). I feel I know DGT better than any other company and have been very confident that my patience would be rewarded. I think the steady rise, PI buys and Director buys over the last few weeks are now beginning to add some substance to what we have been saying since the start of the year. Long may it continue. Convinced my share club to buy some last week, so they should all be pleased today!

A strong guy, pth, as you need to reach a par-5 in two shots and then hole the putt; beyond us ordinary mortals. Also a smart guy: cutting out his dogs and focusing on a top 5, led by DGT. Also a team-player guy: writing to TR and sharing the responses. Thanks, peter: promise not to beat you in the golf challenge (as if I could!)!

Interesting trading as the MMs certainly have raised the bar despite or, more likely, to encourage selling. Starting to get buys at the new offer price. Suggests that the new sp will hold. The point made above (apologies don't recall by whom) that many investors wait for positive momentum is an adequate reason for the MM action. So they could well try it on again next week and we will acheive a more appropraite 0.7p before the interims. The other point worth making is that we won't be the only people with their pet dog to do the digging; there will be quite a bit of chatter from now on about DGT in the tavernas. A final point for my ghostly friend, df: all the best productive environments have a pleasant farmyard aroma - you should try a visit to the countryside to restore your soul!

There we go, the little baby that pushed the SP up today, 2M at 0.43, Director RNS soon?

Had a small top up myself today, had to pay 0.49 though, what a swiz!!

pth

stockdog - 09 Jun 2005 16:25 - 696 of 2787

No - definitely Dogwate (EPIC = DOG!)

sd

ptholden - 09 Jun 2005 16:33 - 697 of 2787

quickly followed by a 3M trade, must have been another discounted buy along with the 2M to shove the SP up the best part of 10%

pth

overgrowth - 09 Jun 2005 16:35 - 698 of 2787

Looking good!!!

Where's those RNS's...

EWRobson - 09 Jun 2005 17:29 - 699 of 2787

So sd has had to take over DGT in order to change name to DOG! Doesn't he realise that dog in relation to shares is based on dog-house. Now, a kennel isn't a bad place to spend the night if you are kicked out by the wife, but a dog-house...!

Can't really make sense of the days trading except that something is afoot ( or apaw). Looks as though the MMs are needing to buy in stock to fulfil market requirements. The encouraging thing is the activity after a relatively long time in the doldrums. A more appropriate sp is 0.7p to 0.8p trading range and I am expecting trading figures to justify 1p. So your top-up, pth, is cheap at the price. For proof of virility you can't have less than 1 million of these little beauties.

Eric

Most of us fall under the 'spell' of watching trades and wonder whether they are a buys or a sells and no doubt get it wrong. Often, many are guilty of declaring a large sell a buy, for no other reason than an attempt to basically mislead not only themselves but others.

'Oh, that sell was a buy, nothing to worry about, keep topping up.' When actually it was a sell and all is not well.

With regard to today's activity, I believe that the 2M and 3M trades were actually buys. TR recently purchased 1.25M shares at 0.40p, a discount to the offer of 0.05p, there is a possibilty that the same has happened again. If it is a director buy, then we will see a RNS when his purchase is complete. If they were buys then this would explain the 10% hike in the SP today. I can't think that 5M worth of sells would have prompted this reaction by the MMS.

At the end of the day (good old football saying) we don't know and may never know. Does it really matter? We are confident in our investment, the SP is up 10% with significant mileage remaining.

By the way, I would say that for proof of virility, you can't have less than TWO million of these beauties!!
