Might have been the wrong decision to go long, still hanging in but fairly tight stop just below 9700...

ptholden - 22 May 2007 12:33 - 7962 of 11056

Managed to scrape +20 from 2 cable longs, hard work though. Yen short still looks in trouble and think I'm making it worse by adding further up.

hilary - 22 May 2007 13:00 - 7963 of 11056

Thanks for that foale.

I upgraded my McAfee at the weekend to the 2007 version. When it did a virus scan it pulled out around 85 cookies which it described as unwanted. I'm now wondering if it doesn't like the FX Powercharts cookie.

Hotei - 22 May 2007 13:10 - 7964 of 11056

hilary - don't know if McAfee does the same, but Norton has an option to "tidy up unwanted files" on a regular basis - this clears out browser cache, cookies etc. It can be configured to ignore, for example, cookies if you so wish. Worth checking on McAfee perhaps.

hilary - 22 May 2007 13:20 - 7965 of 11056

Thanks, hotei, but at the moment I haven't worked out how to change anything to do with the 2007 McAfee. It seems to have lost some of the user options that were in the 2006 version.

foale - 22 May 2007 13:30 - 7966 of 11056

Cable 1.9760 but a possibility of a break up to 1.9815 ish if that breaks.

Inflation in the UK not gone away on the basis of one month weak retail sales figures. Also $ strength going to be a tap opening very slowly in fits and starts.

Currentrly long...with an eye on a down break of 1.9700 as a stop

ptholden - 22 May 2007 18:33 - 7967 of 11056

Traded like a complete tit today and sitting on some uncomfortable positions. Just goes to show complacency rears its ugly head when you least expect it, this following an excellent two weeks to put today's trading into context. Rather hoping that the minutes tomorrow will dispel any hint of further interest rises anytime soon.

Seymour Clearly - 22 May 2007 21:25 - 7968 of 11056

Closed my long +22, having seen it +40 at one point. Will wait for tomorrow's minutes before any new positions taken out.

foale - 23 May 2007 08:51 - 7969 of 11056

Any agressive position taking ahead of 9:30....time to declare now...

Flat here after that nice run up from 1.9680 out at 50-60 area

ptholden - 23 May 2007 09:05 - 7970 of 11056

Still short on Cable from yesterday and ready to jump!

ptholden - 23 May 2007 09:10 - 7971 of 11056

Edit: Just logged on to find I was in profit, so closed for +32. Will wait and see now although I do have an itch to go short again.

(Wish the bloody Yen would come off, seems a bit like the DOW at the moment - relentlessly UP)

mg - 23 May 2007 09:10 - 7972 of 11056

foale
Not sure if you would call it aggresive but short from 55 - stops in place at entry point.

Looks as if the market is thinking (or maybe it knows) that the minutes are not favourable ..... surely not

hilary - 23 May 2007 09:17 - 7973 of 11056

For Dollar longs (which I feel are the flavour of the season), I'm shorting the Euro, Swissie and Yen. For Dollar shorts, I'm longing cable. It's because of the carry.

My Powerchart settings disappeared again overnight. It's p!ssing me off now.

foale - 23 May 2007 09:27 - 7974 of 11056

mg anything that not flat 5 mins before MPC..I am calling agressive lol

Hils yes would p**** me off to...mine ok .Infact I feel its more stable than before. so probably your PC does not like some tweak that was done...

Ok eyes down...finger poised...

mg - 23 May 2007 09:35 - 7975 of 11056

Spiked out for nowt :(

ptholden - 23 May 2007 09:47 - 7976 of 11056

Quite pleased I was able to close prior to the news and managed to pick off +11 during the little spike. Curbed my enthusiasm to go short prior to the release, had to sit on my hands though.

mg :(

mg - 23 May 2007 09:51 - 7977 of 11056

Well done Pt - I should have taken what was on the table - was looking for more - naughty me !!

Seymour Clearly - 23 May 2007 11:12 - 7978 of 11056

Scalped a small no of points this am, now long from 87. Looking for the break through 800. edit now closed +24, think it might hang around 800-820 for a while.

mg - 23 May 2007 13:35 - 7979 of 11056

Well done you longs. I had a resistance @ 19865 that I've shorted from. Dodgy but worth a try.

foale - 23 May 2007 13:48 - 7980 of 11056

yes MG that level certainly putting up resistance..and we have come up aways today
