"Catching a falling knife" springs to mind. Not really any kind of chart support at 80p?

cynic - 08 Feb 2010 18:57 - 782 of 3666

obvious support is 200 dma at +/-73

Balerboy - 08 Feb 2010 18:58 - 783 of 3666

Looks like a rebound.....crude is up a little which helps....we can't have doom and gloom forever...I hope it continues...

niceonecyril - 09 Feb 2010 09:48 - 787 of 3666

Its good to see a bounce but earLy doors yet and in this besr market we could return back to the 70's with73p beibg a double bootom? At the end of the day
this share should make 150p+? Whether one tries to get in lower, risking missing 80p is up to the individual but i'm sure all will end up making a tidy profit in the not to distant future? aimho

I have loads of this stock and will be patient.

hlyeo98 - 09 Feb 2010 10:03 - 789 of 3666

AFR is a good buy unlike DES. See, I am not all gloom and doom.
AFR is already producing but DES is not at all there yet, so I think it is still overpriced at 96p.

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 10:15 - 790 of 3666

quite a difficult call on DES, though you are absolutely right that commercial oil has still to be located .... that said, history is unequivocal that there is oil in reasonable and perhaps significant quantities in the northern basin

niceonecyril - 09 Feb 2010 10:40 - 791 of 3666

Stayed shy of the Falklands simply on the remote location, horrid condirions which adds up to hugh CAPEX.

Always been a great supporter of this stock since inception mainly due to composition and credentials of the board and the very locations of their prospects..When i started the original thread on AFR on money am it was 39p and l bought a shedfull . Sold 50% @97p and 93p which gave me a free ride on remainder so quite naturally l have no problems in holding until hopefully this acorn becomes an oak .l see 500p+ if all go to plan . Only negative, as far as i can see, and unfortunately its a big one, is the socio/political situ in Nigeria.Be under no illusion this is a most dangerous utterly corrupt place and the amount of industrial sabotage is quite unbelievable............A bit along the lines of the luddites in regency England. ln saying that the govt are at last taking a tough line on these thugs. OT ..Anyone interested in oil juniors should have a peep at MXP operating in Kazakhstan with proven commercial deposits in PROLIFIC Caspian basin .CEO-Michael Young recently tripled his holding at a tad shy of 20p as did head bean counter. ..currently trading at around 15/16p

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 12:18 - 793 of 3666

glad you have at last abandoned your phoney french i/d!

by the way, the luddites - who were really too early to be placed in the regency period - were almost exclusively weavers and similar.
their gripe, for which many were hanged or transported, related to mechanical devices putting traditional skilled manual and labour-intensive jobs at risk.

the rebels in nigeria are after something entirely different

Balerboy - 09 Feb 2010 13:59 - 794 of 3666

crikey cynic your an education..... sitting at my desk ready to learn more sir..

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 14:36 - 795 of 3666

i could give you an interesting history lesson on bradford-on-avon if you wished, most of which will even be true ......

trivia Q for you
when was the railway station built at B-on-A and what is somewhat strange about it?

TheFrenchConnection - 09 Feb 2010 14:37 - 796 of 3666

Vous vous trompez Mr. C.! as reg. my origins hehe. Now now lets not walk the road of pedantry Mr C. but im sorry to say the Luddites recorded activities occured mostly during the regency period.Their machine breaking were for the most part concentrated from the spring of 1811 to the november of 1812 .lf you disagree take the matter up with celebrated historians G.D.H Cole and Raymond Postgate. Ok? ln addition i wasnt referring to the motivations and aspirations of the respective groups but rather the levels of aggro both groups were prepared to employ to get their way. l will conceed, however it wasnt with hindsight the best comparison.

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 14:39 - 797 of 3666

regency period did not start until 1811, being the year George III was declared insane

ptholden - 09 Feb 2010 14:49 - 798 of 3666

The station name is hyphenated, unlike the name of the town (the power of the internet!!)

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 15:01 - 799 of 3666

much more fun than that
i think i have the dates right, but it's from memory, but certainly the essence of the story is correct

the station was built in 1849 but the railway did not get there until 1857!

kimoldfield - 09 Feb 2010 15:24 - 800 of 3666

When did the train arrive? :o)
