TMC...One of the miners that hasnt bounced yet (TMC)

siwel2 - 17 Feb 2006 10:17

Interesting little company. Did a series of asset swops to leave them with half of the 4th largest Nickel deposit in the world.
The deposit itself is in the Philippines has been known about for 30 years but due to low prices and lack of demand in the Far East it was never exploited. With the explosion in demand from India and China the nickel price has climbed from $2 to $6.50 but oddly enough is still considered low.
The final approval stage for exploitation is just about to be approved and extraction will begin. The company already has one contract with a Japanese smelter and is in discussions with smelters in a series of countries.
Nothing clever about the operation, as the ore is of sufficiently high grade, they dig it up and ship it out. Infrastrucure is already in place for operation.
TMC is currently priced at 18m, the initial Japanese contract is worth 4m and each additional contract will hopefully be at this level or greater.
Final approval turns the company into a producer and each additional contract simply increases their size.
The management is tight with cash and has some good quality mining skills onboard.
The Philippine government is fast tracking the final approval and the company says it expects it shortly.
One to hold for approval and through the series of RNS's as more contracts are won. Company should be worth 50m in 6 months and 100m in 12-18 months.
Buy it, ignore it, just pointing this one out.

RAB holdings RNS after close, looks like they have sold off over 2%.

halifax - 07 Sep 2007 21:14 - 782 of 879

RAB has reduced its sharehoding from10.8% to 8.38% and now hold 2,445,000 shares maybe they needed to raise cash in these difficult markets.

Probably to pay for their speculative stake in NRK. TMC looks like its on the way back, now that they have a contract with BLT. Thats only for the cheap stuff though, still a year or two for the big money and proper MPSA still to be issued.

Oily do you think the recent appointment of CIBC might suggest a share placing/ issue on TSX to raise funds to build a processing plant? Results due end of next week.

chart below is self-explanatory ...... pretty encouraging assuming currentr level can be held

Things starting to look up, nickel at $15/lb and it seems that the 1st shipment to BHP is on its way?

With all this apparent selling and the price not moving suggests another smoke screen. I reckon a further movement northwards is on the cards.

BigTed - 25 Sep 2007 16:54 - 788 of 879

must say it is nice to see 25dma turning and rising, heres hoping it will cross 50 within a couple of weeks and subsequently 200...

mtld1 - 25 Sep 2007 20:52 - 789 of 879

That should then allow the 50 to rise and cross the 200 ? A Golden Cross ?

RNS yesterday on TQN, Tarquin resources. Toledo has purchased just over 1 million shares or 6.9% of TQN. Surely that's IVK territory, or are they strapped for cash at the mo. Is Mr Kyriakou using TMC as a cheque book for IVK?

halifax - 26 Sep 2007 15:00 - 791 of 879

TMC moving up fast?

cynic - 26 Sep 2007 15:05 - 792 of 879

prob because the RAB stock overhang has now been taken out .... but had not expected to see sudden bounce from +16 to +43!

still performing strongly at end of week, if Nickel price continues its bullish tendancies, this probably has plenty of steam left, the profit taking after the surge on wednesday did little to slow it down... although i believe it is recovering to a more sensible level now that the shorters are leaving it alone, i would rather see a slower path to recovery...!

Nice to see it tipped in The Independant today, and reacting accordingly...

Toledo set to rebound as China lifts nickel demand

The mining sector has been the driving force behind the UK market regaining its high for the year, or at least very close to it. But investors have been buying up the large-cap stocks at the expense of some quality players at the smaller end of the market. Toledo Mining, a nickel producer with assets in the Philippines, has fallen more than 46 per cent since peaking in June. At 475p, the shares were overbought and expensive, so a hefty batch of profit taking was probably in line given the sell-off in the nickel price.

But nickel, in line with other base metals, has rallied significantly and although it remains some way off its all-time high, the signs are that demand is unlikely to shrink any time soon. Only last week, Denis Morozov, chief executive of MMC Norilsk Nickel, the world's largest producer, said he expects demand to remain "robust", particularly from Chinese steel producers.

The company operates out of the Berong nickel mine, and has several other projects due to start producing in the next 18 months. Operating margins are still running at a mouth-watering 70 per cent and the Berong mine alone has enough nickel to last it at least another 20 years.

Toledo looks to be a solid bet among the myriad smaller mining companies, and with the stock beginning to head in the right direction again, this looks like a good entry point for new investors.

TED ...... that was in some papers yesterday or even sunday! .... goes to show what a leader the indie is, just like Emperor Ming!

oilyrag - 18 Oct 2007 06:55 - 800 of 879

Oh dear, just been talking with someone about IVK's RNS in Australia overnight.

Total prodution way below expectations, about 474,000 wet tons alltogether so far. Will be lucky to produce 600,000 tons all year.

RNS was more intrested in the amount of trees shrubs and vegetables that we have planted as if we are going into the grocery business. Confidence is waning in the management as once again they fail to deliver any contracts or increase in production. The only upside was the purchase of 4 large dump trucks capable of carring 35 tons each.

I think this stock is about to be slated and marked down considerably today and in the near future.
