How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Bak

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 20:10 - 7983 of 10502

Man U 1-0, Easiest money ever!

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 20:11 - 7984 of 10502

Just gone in for more at 1.04 - not usually my style but think the price is so wrong

bakko - 18 Jan 2006 20:11 - 7985 of 10502

Looks like no chance now as 1 up

I was about to say only if Burton score a goal as I couldn't see the ManU price drifting out to 1.5+ until late in the 2nd half

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 20:24 - 7986 of 10502

2-0 Game over

not a buying money fan but this was too good to miss

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 20:25 - 7987 of 10502

Agree

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 20:26 - 7988 of 10502

Back to the second half of the juve game for me

bakko - 18 Jan 2006 20:29 - 7989 of 10502

Left a biggish order in at 1.03 and was 80% filled as the ManU goal was scored.

Will use some of the profits for Juve game.

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 20:30 - 7990 of 10502

3-3 in the snooker and even money the pair - need more screens!!!

bakko - 18 Jan 2006 21:24 - 7991 of 10502

Juve has just finished 1-1

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 21:25 - 7992 of 10502

strange game but finished in profit :-)

snooker looks like it could be going to a deciding frame (on 411 Eurosport 2)

Having a dabble on the luzzi v coria game but not much liquidity. Coria scraped the first set after a mammoth tie break and now into 1.09. Managed to get 100 lay on him in the belief Luzzi will put up a similar performance in the 2nd set.

We shall see.

Harlosh - 19 Jan 2006 02:35 - 7994 of 10502

Liquidity poor so I'm off to bed level.

Those interested in the tennis check out the match between Hewitt v Chela.

Hewitt, seeded 3, has just gone 2 sets down. During the 2nd set there has been lots of breaks of serves and odds have been flying all over the place!

Chela knocked out Murray in the last round.

bakko - 19 Jan 2006 10:34 - 7996 of 10502

Hewitt is mounting a fightback and 3-0 up in the 3rd set.

His odds have now shortened from 3.5 to 2.2s

bakko - 19 Jan 2006 11:34 - 7997 of 10502

Hewitt has now pulled it back to 2-1 on a tie break

bakko - 19 Jan 2006 12:12 - 7998 of 10502

Hewitt's just got blown out 3-1

Fundamentalist - 19 Jan 2006 17:47 - 7999 of 10502

Some nice swings in the snooker

Lee was 5-3 and 2 balls from victory when he ran out of position and snookered himself. Now 5-5 and Lee appears to have disintegrated

Fundamentalist - 19 Jan 2006 18:00 - 8000 of 10502

Dott looked home and dried in the final frame then made an easy mistake and looks like Lee will now win - some wild swings in the last few frames
