THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

How to safeguard your Facebook data

Sometimes you might see 'Log in using your Facebook account'. This uses a 'Data App'.
The article, amongst other things, shows you how to limit what sort of data another website's data marketers' Data App can take:
eg:-

Just been to see my doctor.

As always, he was quite busy but I took a second to ask him:

"How do you determine whether or not an older person should be put in an old age home?"

"Well," he answered, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the person to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," I replied. "I suppose a normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." he said. "A normal person would pull out the bathtub's plug. If you like, I can arrange for you to have a bed near the window. Will that be OK?"

Very pertinent and funny!

Clocktower - 27 Mar 2018 15:22 - 80486 of 81564

EL some of the posters here, I guess grew up without even having a bath other than a metal tub, without any plug hole, and you had to heat the water first in a large utensil. The Good Old Days!!

cynic - 27 Mar 2018 15:35 - 80487 of 81564

it was great .... had a buxom young maid to bring her jugs, and of hot water too

jimmy b - 27 Mar 2018 15:55 - 80488 of 81564

Can't say that these days cynic ,you will have the #me too lot on to you.

cynic - 27 Mar 2018 16:02 - 80489 of 81564

Commonwealth Games next week , have to keep an eye on those cheating Aussies.

Bloody crims , no wonder we deported them.

Clocktower - 27 Mar 2018 21:42 - 80491 of 81564

Only difference to our lads is that they got caught and admitted it, unlike what our chaps would do. Our government, institutions and charities cheat the public most of the time but few are willing to change anything. As for other sports persons, how many have doubts hanging over them concerning the use of drugs?

iturama - 28 Mar 2018 07:34 - 80492 of 81564

They couldn't have denied it could they? Plausible deniability is one thing, being caught red-handed is another, even if in this case it was yellow-handed. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of braggarts.

Clocktower - 28 Mar 2018 08:12 - 80493 of 81564

They could have said it was a sweetie wrapping, that he never knew was there and just happened to pull out of his pocket by accident, which I guess British Lads would have.

Still the more important things like Kim Jong-un vist to China, the pr-runner to the Trump meeting looks like it is moving in the right direction - What a feather in Trumps Cap that will be - see what a great deal making he is by using pressure, the same goes for his trade war actions - stopping the Chinese milking the Yanks and rest of the world. :-)

ExecLine - 28 Mar 2018 12:06 - 80494 of 81564

Yes. This up coming Trump - Kim Jong-un meet will be very interesting.

I wonder what sort of deals will be done?

eg. 'No nukes anymore' and 'We will then let you go to Disneyworld and Las Vegas'. :-)

Just bought a few extremely good quality shirts for £19.95 each (instead of the normal £60 ea) from:

https://www.ctshirts.com/spencer

You might need to take extra care with the web site URL with this one. It's the 'Spencer' bit on the end that gets you the introductory discount.

This is an 'Introductory Deal' and so if you've shopped with Charles Tyrwhitt (pronounced 'Tirrit') before I would suggest you get rid of any previous site cookies using CCleaner or this deal might not show up.

(There is also another deal on with them at the moment where the shirts cost £22.95ea but my link is obviously to the very best deal and which is imminently about to end. So if this appeals to you - hurry up! )

You can specify your sizes for: Collar Type, Neck and Sleeve Length (there is a guide for chest sizes). The shirts have Brass Collar Stiffeners included too. As 'Extras' you can add Pockets and Personal Monograms and also specify where these latter are placed. There is a wide variety of styles and fabrics to choose from and the quality is excellent.

Also - Choose a FREE Handmade Silk Tie with your first order.

Have you noticed how "white van driver" has become a term of derision worse than "Audi driver"? I may be lucky but the vast majority of delivery men to my house are cheerful and hardworking. Never had a female, maybe they feel intimidated by the scorn led by fatty Thornberry. Perhaps they should all start driving black vans. That should fix it.

Fred1new - 29 Mar 2018 13:15 - 80500 of 81564

Perhaps they are avoiding your house!
