The U.S. government will allow crucial pressure tests on BP Plc's blown-out oil well to proceed Friday evening as readings so far are inconclusive

Oil giant BP has said that the cap over the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico was continuing to hold.
BP says no sign of sub-sea harm to leaking US well
The announcement will be greeted with cautious optimism following months of misery after the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded in April.
Integrity tests on the cap have been taking place since Thursday evening. The tests will see whether the steel casing of the cap is sufficiently strong for the well to be shut off in the long term.
Following the final test experts will begin to review the collected data to determine whether the leak has stopped for good.
A BP spokeswoman said: "The cap is still holding, integrity tests are ongoing over six-hour periods. These tests are scheduled to be completed later today but it may be some time before we know if they have been successful."

Tony Blair was flown to Libya for secret talks with Colonel Gaddafi just days after denying he was an adviser to the dictator.
Mr Blair was 'entertained as a brother', a senior Libyan government source has revealed.
He told the Daily Mail that the former prime minister had offered Gaddafi, with whom he is on first-name terms, 'a great deal of invaluable advice'.
Tony Blair was flown to Libya to discuss international and domestic issues with Colonel Gaddafi - days after denying he was an adviser to the dictator
They discussed a wide range of international and domestic issues, including lucrative investment opportunities.
The meeting, in Tripoli last month, came shortly after Mr Blair's spokesman flatly denied that he had any 'formal or informal', 'paid or unpaid' advisory role to Gaddafi.
The revelation will heap pressure on Mr Blair - now a Middle East peace envoy - over his links to the Libyan regime and potential conflicts of interest between his public and private roles.

released about 05:30 UK time today (sunday) ..... so far so good ...
BP Plc extended for another 24 hours a critical test of its blown-out Gulf of Mexico well that so far has shut off the huge oil leak, the top U.S. official overseeing the spill response said Saturday.
The energy giant, which cut off the flow of oil from the deep-sea well Thursday when it began the test to gauge its structural integrity, expressed growing confidence that the well was intact.
Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president of exploration and production, said there was no evidence of any leaks. "We're feeling more comfortable that we have integrity" in the well, Wells added, in what would be an important step towards permanently plugging it.
