Mediwatch - Watch them rocket in 2005 !!! (MDW)

overgrowth - 12 May 2005 22:21

Mediwatch is a small company destined to become a much bigger fish by the time this year is out. Mediwatch are already a market leader in urological medical diagnostics equipement and are currently exporting their products throughout the UK, Canada, Europe, India and Japan. That doesn't leave much of the globe left for them to capture - until you remember the good ol' US and China. These are the two massive markets which are destined to be added to MDW's export client portfolio by the end of 2005.

The company is currently heavily undervalued. This is probably because Mediwatch's speciality is not a very glamourous business to be in as their equipment is used extensively to diagnose prostate cancer in men and other nasty urological conditions affecting both men and women. However, don't let that put you off investing in these guys. This is big business and is growing at an exponential rate as more and more people globally become health-aware as they get older.

Mediwatch normally supply their products through to global markets via distribution agreements. They already have the best of distribution partners in the well known US medical distributor CR Bard who supply Canada and Europe and GE Medical who supply Japan. The UK business is handled by Mediwatch's own dedicated sales team.

US FDA approval was gained for MDW's products at the start of last year, however a whole year of US legal wrangling meant that they were unable to seek a suitable partner for the crucial distribution agreement until the start of this year. This distribution agreement is expected by the board to have a "significant effect" on the share price so they are reluctant to give any clues as to when it will be signed, sealed and delivered. The general consensus is that this US distribution agreement will be announced in July/August. In China and Hong Kong, MDW have done things the other way round. They have set up distribution agreements with major Asian medical equipment distributors and have stock already out there waiting to sell into the markets - all they are waiting for is SDA approval (which is a "rubber stamp") from the Chinese authorities - this can take anything up to 12 months to come through and MDW applied during Autumn 2004 - so even more good news coming soon this year. Epidemiological data from British Association of Urology conference last year: On average 30-45% of all men between the age of 50 and 70 have at least one PSA test per year in the US / Italy / Australia.

If that's not enough to convince you to invest a few hard earned coppers in MDW, they are also developing a PSA stick test product (PSAWatch) which is revolutionary and causing some excitement in medical circles. This product can also be adapted (at very low cost) for a whole spectrum of medical disciplines from Cardiology to Veterinary Practice! This product is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Philip Stimpson the CEO has said that this product is going to be their "gold mine" - I'm sure it will prove to be ours too.

banjomick - 09 Mar 2006 01:35 - 903 of 1497

lol,will explain on friday

Treblewide - 09 Mar 2006 09:15 - 904 of 1497

why Friday??? are you trying to indicate that you know some secret announcement is coming from the company, that you are in the know and have someone on the inside that is feeding you information?

or is it coz you are down the pit for the next few days?

or third and favourite that you know nothing and we will be wating for months for any news from MDW?

Minder - 09 Mar 2006 10:26 - 905 of 1497

Treblewide,
Can you explain why we will have to wait months for any news from MDW?

Treblewide - 09 Mar 2006 11:57 - 906 of 1497

can you explain why we will not?..they are not exactly great at communicating with shareholders.

there sales have been still for 12 months so what big news is there to expect...I ahve no idea

Minder - 09 Mar 2006 12:17 - 907 of 1497

Oh sorry I thought you had an idea why not, my mistake.

banjomick - 09 Mar 2006 14:10 - 908 of 1497

Treble,down pit,out tonight and off friday,that's all i meant

Fred1new - 09 Mar 2006 18:39 - 909 of 1497

Treble, What are you hiding about this company.

TA The trend over the last 12 months is quite good although volatile. The EPS is improving although slowly. It is operating in an area which has huge potential market. The products seem to be functional and likely to be taken up. There are delays in production and sales, which with the specifications and diagnostic accuracy needed does not seem extraordinary.

But happy to be advised.

I am holding a small tranche at the present, which may be enlarged on future developments.

Minder - 09 Mar 2006 20:26 - 910 of 1497

Well said Fred,

I can't read the word 'enlarged' now without imagining the word 'prostate' following it, must cut back on the research.

Treblewide - 09 Mar 2006 20:53 - 911 of 1497

what am i hiding? do not knwo what you mean,......i have loads of shares in this, some of which i trade some of which i sit on, however I am frustrated with the lack of movement on sales...siging distribution agreements and getting FDA approvals for product means nowt if people aint handing over cash for your product.

I am still hopeful but frustrated and if i see no sign of improvements in their interims my cash will be going somewhere else

ps share price movement has been quite good over the last 12 months really?

overthe last 24 months it is flat..as is their sales

Fred1new - 09 Mar 2006 22:17 - 912 of 1497

I suppose it depends when you bought. I forgot 8-)

Minder - 10 Mar 2006 07:25 - 913 of 1497

But Treble it is over the next few months they will be launching these new products, Multiscan, Multiscan (desktop), Portascan plus and of course Bioscan and PSAwatch, Chinese approval was granted in January and Medtronic will start the distribution of Multiscan very soon. It is these, that will see a large jump in the Sales figures, I am not surprised the sales are only slightly up, basically it was the Bard deals and a little extra. When the new products launch we will see the salesforce and the new distributors work hard to sell the New Product portfolio. IMHO.
As for the SP it turned and has been in an uptrend since Oct '04 and looks like continuing that trend, as these developments occur.

banjomick - 17 Mar 2006 09:49 - 917 of 1497

This is nice:

Portable patient monitoring, diagnostics

A new product that combines POC testing with portable ultrasound imaging was recently released in Europe by Mediwatch (Warwickshire, UK). The companys One Stop Prostate Assessment System consists of the Bioscan analyzer that performs PSA testing at the point of care and is wirelessly connected to the Multiscan 8/15 portable ultrasound system as well as the Portaflow urine flow/bladder volume analyzer. The system provides an integrated analysis of urological status, including guidance of needle biopsy procedures to check for prostate cancer in patients with suspect PSA readings. The PSAwatch PSA test is performed in 10 minutes at a cost of EUR 6, and requires a 35 microliter fingerstick blood sample. The Multiscan ultrasound analyzer, which provides high-resolution images of the prostate at 7.5 MHz and is more compact than competing portable ultrasound systems, is priced at EUR 15,000. The One Stop system is undergoing review by the FDA, and once cleared for marketing will be introduced in the U.S. by Mediwatchs partner, Medtronic.
