Doing a bit of browsing when this error message appeared:
Your server is running PHP version 4.4.9 but WordPress 3.3.1 requires at least 5.2.4.
Can anyone translate that into understandable English please?

WordPress is popular blogging software that powers many websites. PHP is a server-side scripting language used to dynamically build web pages. WordPress uses PHP to deliver its content.
It's my guess that you were trying to visit a blog and the webmaster had tried updating to the latest version of WP, only to find that his webhosts were still running PHP4 on the server.

Thanks for that Hilary. I sort of understand. I was actually seeking a list of local IFAs so it was quite easy to look elsewhere.

BB - I have a link on my spreadsheet that opens a MAM chart for every stock in the sheet - quite useful.

Can imagine very useful skinny. Notes can be added to run underneath, a chart in notepad too. Also, I started a new 2nd document as 50+ charts can get a bit long and refresh can take a few seconds to happen. GF's thread has that problem as he adds more charts. BB

Advise please.
My wife has just bought a Android Tablet and wants to download some films.
Would appreciate if anyone have any tips what sites to use and is it best to buy or rent the films.
We don't want to pirate!

I have a Macbook Pro 2008 model.
Recently Apple prompted for an auto update - when I applied OK - it crashed.
Apple Genious advised to take it to a firm in Watford to get it fixed - after two days at it they can access two guest accounts but the main acc admin has gone missing with all the data.
Anyone has similar prob - or can anyone help.
Thks

I would search for the problem on Google. That is often a good source of information on bugs.

I don't know if this will be of use but it might be worth a try; take a look at this MacRumour page:

Can anyone recommend a new monitor to work with my PC
looking for make and mode, 24" + full HD dvi, hdmi 2ms
at the moment ive got 3x24" monitors, 2x viewsonics and a 24" BenQ, which looks like its on it way out after only 18 months,
would like a 32"+ or bigger 3D which would mean I could get rid of the BenQ when it breaks
I normally pay £150-250

I think I'm getting behind the curve!
Ubuntu operating system comes to Android smartphones
The Ubuntu operating system has been adapted to run on smartphones.
The Linux-based software will allow users to run desktop apps on their handsets, allowing them to double for PCs when docked to monitors.
The code will initially be released as a file which can be installed on Samsung's Galaxy Nexus phone, replacing Android.

I don't get that.
Linus is fantastic for web servers (helped by the fact that it's open-source and free), but anybody who has actually tried to run a Linux-based PC will confirm that it's a bit of a palaver. Many desktop applications will only run if
Wine is installed and, even then, the applications can become quite buggy.

Hi Hils,
I don't get involved at the ground level these days, but I have some techie mates who have been Linux based PC nuts in the past.
As far as I'm concerned, wine should always be 'installed' :-)

I installed wine in my wife's computer last week, what a waste, it was a rather nice
2008 Poeira. I was sooo cross. Not as cross as my wife however!

What a waste, Poeira is the best selling Portuguese wine in Harvey Nichols’ restaurant. Mine computer prefers coffee. :-))
