How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Rangers certainly didn't have a good game, but backed 2.5 unders initially and greened up shortly after HT. Laid Lyon in the second half only to see some French foreigner fail to equalise for Rangers from less than two yards in the middle of an open goal, hit the bar ffs!! Oh well I'm sure the woodwork has saved me a few times as well.

Scripophilist - 14 Dec 2007 09:23 - 10362 of 10502

Greetings all, I was also on the CL's for the sake of aftertiming I backed unders on Arsenal and escaped at break even and laid the draw for Rangers.

I have had a busy year and my turnover on the exchanges is now millions a week. Coupled with investing this hasn't left me much time so new years resolution is to get a better balance back.

The book seems to drag on forever but I earn more in an afternoon that I will earn from the book so obviously my that determines where my effort is. It should have been out this Xmas as the text was handed over earlier in the year but thanks to Betfair SP etc it will now be re-written, again!

If anybody is interested we are about to release a soccer product, if you want a play with the beta, please get in contact.

Interesting game tonight in La Liga: Real Zaragoza v Valencia

Zara traded at 1.04 to lay with nearly 15 mins to go when 2-0 up, a reflection of Valencia's poor form and recent problems. Effectively the odds represented a 'free bet' for anyone watching the game. Valencia outplayed Zara in the second half without threatening to score a goal, but if they did the bet would become totally free as odds of 1.04 wouldn't be seen again until the final minutes of injury time.

Happy days, Valencia managed to score the first and equalised with a fantastic second goal a few minutes later. 40 liability can return an awful lot of money on the exchanges..............sometimes :)

Happy Xmas fellow BEXers :))))

Hi you guys, Happy New Year. I came across the following site a few days ago, I have trialed the system myself, I won't comment on my results (yet) try it for yourself, post your results pls. Paper trade at first, and see how you get on.

The site is > http://www.inspyral.com/gdr/roulette.php

I only used VC casino (Casino 3)

Sign up and away you go.

Good luck - Mike...

This is just simply the Martingale system. It fails because of the chance of hitting zero and because of the finite limit on your stake and your stake will of course rise very quickly if you double it each time. The calculation on the site is correct but you would be very foolish to commit £500 (hopefully you haven't). Say you commit a more reasonable £80, the chance of losing it becomes 4.04% or more than 1 in 25.

That still doesn't sound like a lot but if you repeat the process say 10 times the chance of being wiped out (losing your entire deposit) is 34%, repeat it 20 times and it is 56%. In order to meet the minimum playthrough requirements for the bonuses you will need to wager at least a total of £750 or £5000.

Of course of the three casinos listed, only the Victor Chandler casino allows Roulette as a valid game for earning the bonuses. The others will not allow you to withdraw money until you have played it many times on far more risky games than Roulette. You would be extremely unlikely ever to see your money again. Always read thoroughly the terms and conditions of any promotion.

Also, the above assumes that the casino software is scrupulously fair. Many sites are not. While the total percentage payout is often correct and independently verified (if you believe it) what many sites do is to increase the chance of getting losing runs while keeping the overall chances the same. In other words you may well get many more small wins which encourage you to play more, but much more frequent losing runs which then wipe you out.

Kayak. Thanks for your input.

My results 'playing for fun' from a starting bank of 1,000, after approx 3.5 hours (spread over 4 days) my balance is now 2,152.50.

Playing with my money this afternoon, from a bank of 160, playing for 30 mins my balance is now 220. Beginers luck a? I'll keep you all posted.

PS:- Kayak as I said play it yourself, let me know your results pls.

Can you tell us what your biggest bet was - after losing 7 times in a row for example, which surely happened at some point in all that playing time. You will likely have come up against a house limit to bet size. What did you do? If you did not get to such a point, then yes, it's beginner's luck, as that is where you will come unstuck eventually. Keep us posted.

chartist2004 - 13 Jan 2008 19:34 - 10371 of 10502

Exotoxin - My bigest bet playing for real was £32, lost 4 in a row twice. My stake was £2 at all times exept after a loss. Played 62 games in all 26 lost 36 wins.

Playing for fun 4 losses in a row 4 times, 6 losses in a row once Max house bet £100. (should have bet £160. but only bet £100.) Starting bet £5 - £10 - £20 - £25...
Cheers Mike...

Dil,

I tried scalping pre race for a while using the charting facility but without any real success. Every time I followed the trend the price would go in the other direction. I came to the conclusion that the much shorter time frames is something of an art and requires no little experience. Nothing wrong with the software, just my decision making process. Perhaps trading a longer time frame could be more profitable, by which I mean a few hours before the off rather than the last 20 mins.

Dil - 08 Nov 2009 11:42 - 10378 of 10502

Cheers pt , I looked at a few races last week and in each one would have made money and that was only using betfair charts. I'll keep watching for a while before trying anything.

How much better are the betangel charts ?

tabasco - 09 Nov 2009 08:46 - 10379 of 10502

Good morning all>

DilI am just a lucky thickobut I have been lucky trading up and down on betfair.. mostly horses for many yearsI use my luck by compiling the odds of competitive handicaps and forming my own tissue a day before the racethe official handicapper is only a point of viewthe same as my thoughts?I take into account the horses current ratingwith conditionswhich include goingstiff/easy trackleft/right track etcform of others going into the racehow the form of others has compared coming out of previous raceshow many races an individual horse takesto come to himselfbig strong sprinters with a big back endcan usually carry weight a lot better than lightly framed animalsand so can carry penalties a lot easierand many more factors or possibilitiessick stablesform stables/jockeys and apprenticesthe average punter on betfair will be looking at official ratingstrainers/jockeys and current form and thats it!!!
To give you a recent exampleI backed and traded a horse many times on the totesport handicap on Saturdaythe horse was called Highland Legacyit finished 8th of 23 at 16/1...I wont go into too much detailbut the odds offered early doors were mouth-wateringliquidity in the market is a problembut patience and the ability to want to play long hours is rewarding.but as alwaysthe lucky formula in racing is research and knowledge

Dilyour favourite subjectXfactor..this was my post in response to Jeff.

You being such an expert on X factor. Who will win this year?

JeffI have not ignored your questionover the last few weeks I have built up a nice stake in one artist.and a reasonable saver on another.my fancy to win it is the best punt since Will Youngwho did do me a big favour some years ago
My savour would be a stake on Joseph.reasonliked by all the judgeswhich is important as they currently choose the loser each week.majority of voters are teen girlsand a loved by grannies personalitylarge double figure odds were availablebetfair are now at 5.0 second fav.
Now my best puntcould be an arsehole?could be a rebel?could be a sh*tI cant tellundoubtedly the best talent by a cosmoshad a scare then had a sulk this weekI have taken a good punt in the hope Cowell sorts himI am confident that he is Cowells No1...I am equally sure he is Louis Walshs favourite outside of the twinsand they cannot winon a negative side Cheryl dont like himthe name is Danyl Cowell has picked songs that have clearly not been Danyls fancyand I believe he is going to be cut loose over the next few weeksbuilt up a good stakeand fifth fancy 8.2 is still readily available and will prove a good trade if you want safe in coming weeksdyorbut I am filling my boots.

Good day chaps.

I have been using this free, yes free Trading application for Betfair and its superb!!

The brains behind this software is the former developer for BT 4.6 from Racing Traders.

Once you start using this I'm sure you wont look elsewhere.
