For immediate release 28 December 2007

Black Rock Oil & Gas PLC

('Black Rock' or the 'Company')

Drilling Update

Acacia Este-2 Appraisal Well Spudded

Black Rock Oil (stock code: BLR), the AIM-traded oil and gas exploration and
production company, announces that the Acacia Este 2 appraisal well in the Las
Quinchas Association Contract in the Middle Magdalena Valley of Colombia was
spudded by its joint venture operator, Kappa Resources Colombia Limited
('Kappa') on December 21st 2007 and drilling operations are underway. The
Directors expect the well to take up to 40 days to drill, test and complete.

Acacia Este was announced as a discovery on the 18 July 2007 producing oil from
several sand horizons in the Tertiary Mugrosa Formation. Testing subsequently
recovered heavy oil to a maximum rate of 101 barrels per day with only 5 per
cent. bottom sediment and water at standard conditions and low pump rates.
Following re-completion, the well was put onto a production test, the results of
which at this point are very encouraging. Our joint venture partner in Colombia,
Kappa, intends over the next year to conduct a programme of appraisal well
drilling and new seismic acquisition over the Acacia Este field to delineate the
size and nature of this important discovery.

Dr John Cubitt, Managing Director of Black Rock Oil & Gas plc, commented:

'The spudding of Acacia Este 2 which is 0.5 kilometres from the Acacia Este
discovery well represents the first step in the appraisal of the significant
heavy oil discovery made earlier this year. We eagerly await the outcome of the
well.'

Black Rock Oil - Development of Acacia Este is pivotal
09-Jan-2008

Investors will be hoping that Acacia Este-2, the competent persons report from Gaffney, Cline and Associates, and additional exploration news flow will combine to ensure that the company can fulfil its ambitions.

A Great Place to do Business

John Cubitt, Managing Director of Black Rock Oil and Gas, had more than 25 years experience
in the oil industry when he joined the company in 2005 - but none in Colombia. Like so many people, I had many preconceived
ideas about the economic, political and security situation in Colombia, all of which were wrong, he explains. I have been very impressed with the way the strong government of President Uribe has dealt with the problems of insurgency, terrorism and drug cartels with a mixed carrot and stick approach. They have maintained a hard line, driving terrorists to the more remote areas, but at the same time offered arms amnesties which have successfully brought the insurgent
groups into the political and democratic process. As a result, an environment of stability
and prosperity has been developed in the cities and main agricultural regions, with a less disaffected and disenfranchised poor.
This upsurge of economic and political security
has also been instrumental in the sudden
growth in hydrocarbon discoveries in the country, as levels of foreign investment have leapt up, John continues. We find it a very interesting area to work in. Our biggest
assets are heavy oil fields in the Middle Magdalena Valley, although there is a possibility
of lighter crude at depth. We are not operators, as heavy oil is a specialist area, requiring stimulation like steam injection to make it flow.
When I first went to Colombia I was stunned by how different it was from my perceptions. The people are very welcoming and encouraging
and it is a great place to do business, John concludes.
