How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

What country are they from Fundy?

Harlosh - 16 Feb 2005 17:34 - 1182 of 10502

bakko,

never had a problem until the last 3 days or so. Now it's every few seconds.
I've emailed AB but he has kindly failed to reply.

Are you using AB Pro?

Thanks Steve.

I think it is a Betfair issue. As all refreshers seem to be having the same problem. I am using a javascript refresher and that is having the same issue.

Scripophilist - 16 Feb 2005 17:51 - 1186 of 10502

I am on an early beta with something at the moment that will solve all your problems. You will have an autobet product on the top and a tab and bar for managing your bets. It's ace! But still early days at the moment. Will keep you in touch.

Harlosh,

Using AB B1 at moment and not Pro yet.

My refresher problems are mainly with Betfair's own platform. It will auto refresh OK most of the time but on numerous occasions it just stops and I need to restart it again. I just put it down to possible communication interferences??

However, I can imagine it must be extremely frustrating if you're on the horses as autorefresh is absolutely vital. I've not graduated onto the horses yet but will do so eventually. I hope it gets sorted out ASAP.

Struggling at the moment to juggle all these matches and working out a log scale for my match predictor. Seems to nail home teams and draws very well but needs a little adjusting to pull the correct price for the away team. Forecast on Shalke was OK only out by a small %.

Scripophilist - 16 Feb 2005 17:57 - 1189 of 10502

Bakko, Harlosh - It would appear to be a Betfair issue.

chartist2004 - 16 Feb 2005 18:56 - 1190 of 10502

Up 37% on the Inter game now on the Snooker frame betting, bagging around 30% on each set so far...8 to go

chartist2004 - 16 Feb 2005 19:04 - 1191 of 10502

On the Panathinaikos v savilla game if no score by 17:30 watch the draw odds fall like a stone from 2.0 - 1.05. imho ...

chartist2004 - 16 Feb 2005 19:04 - 1192 of 10502

chartist2004 - 16 Feb 2005 19:58 - 1195 of 10502

Fund - thanks, nar backed the draw @ 2.54 layed @ 1.85 for a few bob.

Harlosh - 16 Feb 2005 20:09 - 1196 of 10502

Had a small wager on Kilmarnock at odds of 44. 0-2 down but they pulled a similar deficit back in the first tie. You never know!!!

chartist2004 - 16 Feb 2005 20:24 - 1197 of 10502

Harlosh - I've layed Kilmarnock @ 1.1, also layed the Any Unquoted @ 3.5, as you say you never know!

bakko - 16 Feb 2005 20:41 - 1198 of 10502

Unlike you guys I backed a heavy amount on Hearts @ 1.1 and layed off at 1.08. A hair raising 20 mins or so but a profit if they hang on to win.

Scripophilist - 16 Feb 2005 20:56 - 1199 of 10502

Something funny going on on the Parma vs Stuttgart match. Somebody desperate to get a back matched on the draw around 14k's worth. I keep annoying him by moving the price out. Just want to see what he is up to. Could be a bot. It keeps following the price on the lay side. Nip on over if you want to have some fun.
