Significant pound drop but not a lot on the Euro, above 1.1760 that may have more mileage on the upside?

Tellon - 14 May 2004 15:19 - 1322 of 11056

Ive decided this postion taking strategy I worked out, although it does give good entrys the exits are not the best. I cant handle the draw downs its really not for me..

closed both my longs for -150pips

Just for the fact that the postion has gone against me so many time. Im glad to just close it.

Hope you all had a better weak than me..

-150 my worse week for a while..

Cloggs - 15 May 2004 09:20 - 1323 of 11056

Tellon
You are not alone, same has happened to me, not been trading Forex very long,

started off well but been hit hard this week, traded very wide stops, over 100

pips but still got hit, all part of the learning process I suppose.

hodgins - 16 May 2004 21:33 - 1324 of 11056

I too lost some on wide stop from Friday before last after I thought (shouldn't think!) it wouldn't go down any more after figures of that day (the wild spiking one when most of us except Tellon didn't make much) but it did last week.
Fortunately got most of it back the Friday just gone with small positions pre that days figures and then pyramided to twice on pound and Euro but currently flat.
IF? oil settles back a little this week might we see stocks and bonds up a little and dollar down against most crosses? Still pondering though.
Euro stuck at top of 11880 and 11760, may go lower first? then higher?

Finally, off topic but if Hilary listening, I was informed elsewhere on board that you were previously long Petra Diamonds (PDL). Useful rise there Friday, no news? Ore sampling equipment in place and working, BHP Billiton happy, whatever that means. I wonder if there is more to come?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 17 May 2004 07:56 - 1327 of 11056

Hilary,

We have not made any changes to the size of a post that you can place on these boards.

I have just spoken to Jonathan, and he said that there may be some browser limitation which could prevent you from posting a large post.

Ian

hilary - 17 May 2004 08:02 - 1328 of 11056

OK Ian, thanks. It just seemed that there isn't a lot of forthcoming news this week and yet it curtailed my original post at the 6:15 CHF news for Friday.

It's been doing that for two or three weeks now, whereas it wasn't so long ago that I was able to post the calander for the whole week in a single post. Weird.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 17 May 2004 08:08 - 1329 of 11056

Hil,

I will get Jonathan to look into this anyway just to make sure it is nothing at our end.

Ian

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 17 May 2004 08:34 - 1330 of 11056

hilary,

I have seen this problem a few times, and I can confirm that it is not anything to do with the site.

Sometimes, with really large posts in <textarea> boxes, some versions of IE trauncate the text that it is sending, ie, it doesnt send all the content to the server.

As it is client based and not a server based problem there isnt much I can do to fix it from here.

You said it only started happening recently, was anything changed on your machine around the time it started happening?

J.

foale - 17 May 2004 09:24 - 1331 of 11056

make your mind up Cable
I have a living to make here...

Currently flat

Beeblebrox - 17 May 2004 09:37 - 1332 of 11056

ditto david

hilary - 17 May 2004 10:04 - 1333 of 11056

Ditto, you two. Bullishness spilling over from the EUR/USD pair seems to be spoiling the Cable bears picnic today. Do you guys think that the Iraq news is affecting things this morning?

JT,

Thanks for that. I do carry out regular Windows updates. It maybe that something has changed as a result of one of the updates. It's not a major frustration ....... more of a minor irritation.

hodgins,

I do know a fair bit about Petra. Forget totally about Alexkor. Alto Cuilo is potentially massive but there are a lot of caveats concerning both funding and the fact that it's located in a region hitherto torn by civil war. Let me know if you want any more info. Have you spoken to Adonis? Very personable chap. If you own more than 50k shares, he'll probably be happy to meet you personally when he's next in the UK.

Beeblebrox - 17 May 2004 10:15 - 1334 of 11056

inevitably so hilly babe
watching to see if 177.25 goes on this little ride up

foale - 17 May 2004 10:18 - 1335 of 11056

Beeblebrox - 17 May 2004 10:24 - 1336 of 11056

david :~) i've got 3 longs - anl,oom,cs, all relatively small,
but it still hurts.

you are not alone !

Beeblebrox - 17 May 2004 11:37 - 1337 of 11056

i've just gone short david 177.15

foale - 17 May 2004 11:42 - 1338 of 11056

well its a good entry point...
Hey given time today we could both be right

but get the feeling the clever traders are sitting this one out

hodgins - 17 May 2004 12:03 - 1339 of 11056

Beebs, looking promising, thought about but didn't.

Beeblebrox - 17 May 2004 12:08 - 1340 of 11056
