rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Everyone's buying back into GBP/JPY again - except me. I'll watch for an entry this afternoon when I get a chance.
I have taken out an AUD/NZD long.

7.4p - I've bought SBRY for my sins.
Also looking at SUK2 for my SIPP again.
On edit - I don't know about the DAX.

Cheers Skinny, taken profit in DAX so just running a very small bet overnight. This more than covers my FTSE divi payment so no need to Hedge.. I've added to my UK Commercial Property Trust today and taken a long DTF in AUD/NZD. If the FTSE goes over 6705 I'll probally place a further short for a few points..

You playing Wall St Skinny? I've looked a few times but got nothing on US indicies as of yet. The Dow isn't looking overbought to me just yet.

Shortie - I've looked, but a bit busy elsewhere.
As posted above, I may initially buy SUK2 in my SIPP.
Very good halifax!

Seymour, if you are around - do you know if it's possible to open the CMC charts in a new window/tab?

Skinny, as far as I'm aware they are only within the one browser window. I tend to have all the currencies I want with the smallest charts on display then I maximise when I want to interrogate. Slightly frustrated that you can only have one timeframe on display at any one time, but I'm getting used to that and quite like it. Edit, I'm wrong about the timeframe - you can have two charts of the same instrument with different timeframes, but you definitely can't open them in a new browser / window.
This is my work display. Different setup at home on the widescreen monitor.

Thanks Seymour - I was aware of the time frame 'differential' option.
I'll contact them tomorrow, and failing any joy, come to you for spec advice! :-)

Seymour - there is no option to open the chart in a different tab/window.
