FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

confess i assumed it had just crashed ...... obviously one side can't tell a malaysian civil airliner from an enemy jet fighter

Nice profit Skinny, I exited my FTSE shorts this morning... Not much time to trade at the moment...

cynic - 18 Jul 2014 16:16 - 16028 of 21973

TESLA (TSLA)
bought just a few this afternoon at $216 - it has been >$250 within the last couple of months
though it's a heavily rated share already, it certainly has a good following
more importantly, china has removed sales tax (10% i think) on electric cars and that is where Tesla are having a big push

it's certainly a very attractive car, but i do wonder about the build quality, but what do you expect from american cars

goldfinger - 18 Jul 2014 16:28 - 16029 of 21973

Dead Loss.

cynic - 18 Jul 2014 16:36 - 16030 of 21973

cynic - 18 Jul 2014 17:55 - 16032 of 21973

Shortie - 21 Jul 2014 11:01 - 16033 of 21973

6720 still offering short term support, I'd think a break below will trigger a test of support 6650 support followed by a test of the 9 month uptrend back at 6560..

cynic - 21 Jul 2014 20:05 - 16034 of 21973

a diddy +20 on a small dow long ..... that said, i'ld be very happy if i could produce that day in and day out throughout the year

Sharp move on Verizon on update - Verizon Delivers Sixth Consecutive Quarter of Double-Digit Operating Income and Earnings Growth

cynic - 22 Jul 2014 11:51 - 16036 of 21973

Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.90 per share on revenue of $31.12billion.

well, they clearly blew that forecast away and with some heavyweights also reporting today - see below - we could be in for an interesting session ...... cash dow currently nudging 17100, but just shying away from breaking through

Earnings and economic data: Many big corporate names will be reporting quarterly results Tuesday.
Coca-Cola (CCE), Comcast (CCV), Domino's (DPUKY), Harley-Davidson (HOG), McDonald's (MCD) and Verizon (VZ, Tech30) will report earnings before the opening bell. Apple (AAPL, Tech30) and Microsoft (MSFT, Tech30) will report after the close.
On the economic front, the U.S. government will report the latest consumer price index number at 8:30 a.m. ET. Stats on existing homes sales from June will be reported at 10 a.m.
