FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

I totally agree with your comments Chris and this bulletin board is moderated.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 11:37 - 16402 of 21973

Plain to see that you trashed the Threads Carson. You and your mate doodle bug the latter. It was obvious to anyone that both of you were intoxicated.

The vile language that came from you.

Take it elsewhere not here.

I have you both filtered now.

Chris Carson - 07 Oct 2014 11:39 - 16403 of 21973

Good! Ditto.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 11:42 - 16404 of 21973

Cant see what your saying carson but give your self a pat on the back for ending a thread that a few decent posters liked reading. WELL DONE.

a (rash?) little dabble in dow long at 16860

============

and out +22

only a diddly profit, but not to be knocked
took it as much as anything as dow seems disinclined to rally much further for now

=============

so of course suddenly back through 16900 (thank goodness)
now fingers x-ed that it holds

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 17:04 - 16407 of 21973

I see doodlebug4 is up to the same tricks as he carried out saturday evening ie, that of trashing threads an established poster aswel, like I mentioned this morning we need to approach management and ask for Bulletin Board Moderators.

Lets face it if established members are hell bent on trashing threads the likes of itinerant spoilers like dr9980 this morning are free to post at will. And I see they still havent been moved.

CR - I've taken the liberty of copying your FLYB comment on to the FLYB thread on the m----am bulletin board as I now have your 'favourite' poster trying to give me aggravation on there. :-)

doodlebug4 - 07 Oct 2014 17:13 - 16408 of 21973

I think you were the poster who started copying and pasting from the advfn bulletin board gf and you certainly started it on the FLYB thread. As I said before - you are very good at dishing out the insults, but if someone starts fighting back, as Chris Carson did, then you expect administration to step in and help you.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 17:13 - 16409 of 21973

He then goes on to post this which if this isnt trying to incite aggressive behaviour I dont know what is....

doodlebug4 7 Oct'14 - 16:05 - 180874 of 180875 0 0

Not sectioned, but banned from this bulletin board perhaps CR.........ends

Posters like this are actually worse than the spam posters imo. They should be kicked off the board without any chance to explain themselves.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:20 - 16410 of 21973

i have never had any prob with DD, but of course you do have a habit of fanning flames and taking up a lot of room cutting and pasting stuff that you reckon is trash from others

you're old enough to know to stay relaxed :-)

Chris Carson - 07 Oct 2014 17:24 - 16411 of 21973

Well said cyners, common sense good to see shown. The man with the multiple user names is getting sadder :O)

doodlebug4 - 07 Oct 2014 17:24 - 16412 of 21973

And what were you trying to achieve by copying and posting the comment on advfn about me on the FLYB thread gf if it wasn't an attempt to incite me. I thought you had me on filter anyway!

We had a very peaceful day on this bulletin board yesterday without your input and the minute you came back you start stirring it again. As I said before you must be a bulletin board administrator's nightmare.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 17:27 - 16413 of 21973

Looks like doodlebug is up to his usual tricks TRASHING THREADS

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:36 - 16414 of 21973

chris - it would do no harm for you and DD to pipe down too :-)

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 17:38 - 16415 of 21973

much more importantly

Dow is having a few short and short-lived bounces, but it is of concern that even 16900 is now looking too great a hurdle
if that is so, then about 16750 becomes the next hoped support

skinny - 07 Oct 2014 17:39 - 16416 of 21973

6.gifFeel the love

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 20:05 - 16417 of 21973

:-(
no love on dow
i'm still holding a relatively old dow long and have made a few shekels this afternoon/evening on that tack, but it's certainly looking very sick and barely holding 16800 at the moment

skinny - 07 Oct 2014 20:17 - 16418 of 21973

16770 as I type.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 20:21 - 16419 of 21973

there's some earnings numbers out after close which include kfc
i don't expect these to be good for i recollect something nasty in china re chix a month or so ago
it is therefore very likely that dow will indeed hit 16750 or even a tad below .... if so, i think i'll be a modest buyer
it may also be worth considering shorting ftse as that currently shows (cash) at -37 (6467) which may be on the generous side for tomorrow's opening

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 20:25 - 16420 of 21973

money with mouth
small dow long at 16757.6 .... just missed the current bottom by a few points
