Prospects galore as environmental message gets through
We're exactly half-way through Fairtrade fortnight and one message being driven home is that we are becoming so much more environmentally friendly these days.
This tree-hugging nation loves its recycling and fair trade coffee, so it should seem natural that companies are trying to attract shareholders by branding themselves as "socially responsible".
Peter Michaelis, manager of Norwich Union's UK ethical fund, explains that such marketing can pull in the investors. He says: "The younger generation is more concerned about global issues like climate change, fair trade, child labour, employees' rights and human rights."
With the wealth of Aim companies claiming to be helping society, which ones will give you that feel-good factor, as well as help line your pockets?
Mr Michaelis says: "Those providing alternative energy solutions are set for a large amount of growth in profits." He thinks Clipper Wind, which makes wind turbines for the US market, could be one company to benefit.
"The US wind market grew 43pc last year and is set to continue," he explains. "Clipper has a new, more efficient design which should gain them market share."
Recycling is becoming more fashionable, and this trend is extending to mobile phones. "Fonebak recycles old mobile phones and then re-sells them in countries where the latest gizmo is not a priority," says Mr Michaelis.
Concentrating on the telecoms companies, he adds Leadcom may also appeal to the socially responsible investor. It designs and manages the construction of mobile phone networks in Africa and South America.
Those who want to put their cash in companies directly helping the less privileged, may turn to Connaught, which refurbishes housing association and local authority housing.
Spice may attract the environmentally friendly since, in these times of water scarcity, it installs and reads water meters; while the five-a-side football organiser Goals Soccer lets out its pitches free to schools and local youth clubs.

Another tick up due soon I think, is 5 v 1 on L2 (79/81) so we should see 82p offer today I think.

Having a bit of a shake down today, must be short of stock and getting ready for the 31st March Q1 trading update.
They will try to knock out some stop losses before the T buyers come in, could present a decent buying op, but they will not keep it low for long I think if they get hit with some buying :)

Looks like that little shake failed miserably. My advice to the MM's will be try again at 90p next Friday, but your not having mine ;)

One failed shake, now level and L2 is 4 v 2 :)
The thing to take heart from was it was a feeble shake of just a couple of points, they must be scared to drop that offer down for fear of strong buying. I know I will be having a few more each time they drop the offer a nice enough amount.

Bugger, I was just going to add a few more at 81p, now its 83p.
However, I will wait a few more days in case 81p comes back again as I think in the months ahead, 81p or 83p will be very cheap compared to where Leadcom might be going ;)

Decided I could wait no longer, hope your enthusiasm rubs off on the share price PapalPower.
Sold out the other day another big mistake, must now render my sell button finger nonoperational.
Your research has been invaluable too.
Regards.

Porky, the Q1 update should be good, but there should be better things waiting for later in April (or early May if not in April) so keep the faith and I would avoid the sell button for a period of time ;)

The sell button is now off limits.
All the best.

I thought that market makers were beginning to lose their dominance on share price action with the movement towards sets. Maybe, I've misunderstood it. Also, I like this share, and your research has been very prescient papal power but isn't the founders/directors selling normally a bad thing? I know it said that it was for institutional demand but how do we know this, wouldn't it be in their interests to hold on for further rises?

I like the institutions buying at market price, slightly unusual and that fidelity's funds hold leadcom. After Peter Lynch's association with fidelity and his books I hope his value based stock picking has rubbed off on the current crop of fidelity's fund managers. However, I'm not sure about the x trades because they seem awfully small amounts for institutional buying.

Do you know where you can find out what instititutional holdings there are in companies. I can't get it on moneyam's active package on company zone. Is it available free anywhere like hemscott?

The insti's taking the shares at full value is all you need to know moving forward over the next couple of months :) As Leadcom is an Isreali company it will not be covered by Hemscott. Insti's buy like that, apart from big lumps, they will also build over a period of time taking smaller available lumps.
I am expecting a price well over 100p by May, with a good Q1 update and big news like contracts and stuff in April/May :)

Thanks. Do you know where you can get info about the main shareholders in companies?

For all companies with a head office in the UK, you can get the info from Hemscott Premium if you sign up (but they do not cover companies with head office outside of the UK) (www.hemscott.net)
I do not now anyone who offers it for free.

Thankyou, bought into leadcom yesterday. Feeling quite comfortable about it, especially after today's trades, all buys so far. Just on the off chance I was wondering if you had any views on ADN. Aberdeen Asset Management, it's a boring share, but has a great chart and looks a good turnaround story. Vislink's chart looks great as well, although it's gone up quite a lot lately.
