Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

CROOKS AT WORK ON THE UK
US companies paying hardly any corporation tax on the UK
LONDON—Google, Amazon and Starbucks were accused of being immoral and manipulative in their U.K. tax affairs during a parliamentary hearing into the low amount of tax some multinational companies pay in Britain.
The hearing comes against a backdrop of heightened public resentment at the seemingly low taxes paid by some large companies during a time of austerity, and amid increased scrutiny of U.K. tax laws that allow multinational companies to pay hardly any corporation tax in Britain. ..............

if the law allows, then minimising one's tax liability can scarcely be called crooked ...... while now clearly being taken to the limit by all sorts of companies, until the law is changed, then they are, in many ways, absolutely correct in so doing
more and more countries now impose a withholding tax - i think colombia is 30%! - and i dare say something similar could be imposed in this scenario ..... however, it is never quite as simple as first appears, not least because of the inevitable side-effects - e.g. when dealing with colombia and other south american companies, we raise our prices to counter

I think its a bit much when companies are being castigated for avoiding tax by the same people (MP's) who used every possible legal loophole in their expenses system to fidde their expenses.
At least these companies are only using legal loopholes, whereas many MP's went as far as committing the crimes of fraud and false accounting to fill their grubby pockets.
The government is now quite rightly looking at closing the tax loopholes used by these low or none paying tax companies, but I doubt that they will consider closing the tax loopholes they themselves use.
Hypocritical barstewards.

James Buchanan Duke: Father of the modern cigarette
It looks harmless enough - white, 8cm (3in) long and about the width of a child's finger - but the cigarette is vilified like no other product. Who invented it and how much responsibility does he bear for the countless deaths it has caused?

re - Inflation well up after last month well down
Suspicion is the word
why?
Last month was the time to fix Govement paying rates for next year
Last year they ( goverment ) managed to do more of the same though in a different way
Are the Goverment also Crooks?
Most likely some pensioners and the ones being affected think so and I would not blame them,
as there is plenty of comments of some getting trouble in getting ends meet
