Helius Energy - Biomass power generation (HEGY)

huxley - 31 Jan 2007 19:17

Listed today on the AIM raising 2.035m with a placing at 26p and a projected market cap of 18m.

Helius Energy are looking to deploy power generation plants in two categories - 50-65MWe and small scale 5MWe plants. The initial focus in the UK is for 3 in each category.

Proven supplier of biomass generators WtsilBiopower has been signed up to provide the technology know how.

The first large scale site has been secured at Stallingborough, Teeside. Totalling 36 hectares this site provides key access to transport links and the required supply of feedstuff.

1 day chart looks to be broken :-(

In addition to focussing on the Teeside site it also has an office in Johannesburg, South Africa to help solve the growing needs for power with an environmentally friendly solution.

General Capital appear to be the largest institution holding stock - about 9% of the 58m shares issued. Although Jonathan Hill a Helius non-exec director is also a founder of General Capital...

I brought in this morning with several bundles in the low 30's. Would have brought more if barclays online dealing was behaving itself. So well happy and have them tucked away for a rainy day.

Suspect this will get lots of coverage in the papers over the coming days and weeks.

First off the press in the Guardian

Finally, new issue Helius energy made a good start on Aim. Placed at 26p each, they closed at 40p. The company plans to build biomass power plants, which burn waste products from other processes, such as agriculture and distilling. It hopes to construct a 65MW station at Stallingborough in Humberside, and also smaller 5MW plants alongside companies which produce the necessary waste.

Helius are also the only biomass sponsor at the 2nd African Biofuels Exhibition March this year.

huxley , interesting company. I find it strange that the SP has declined , for such a topical venture I wonder where the problem is Although it must be hard to figure out how to value this one.

I read this as that they will supply Wartsila generators getting someone else to finance this and then make a profit on operating the energy capacity thereafter. Is that around about right ?

Quiet on here considering recent rises and steadiness during market turmoil...:O)

Placing today at 13p g'tees much-needed Cash - and sp has taken off (up 25%), but it's still close to the bottom. The Bankers only paid 13p, so they are already in Big Profit, hopefully they won't sell for 12 months! Today abt 23p to buy.

Not at all sure about alternative energy Co's - today also saw the launch of a Sugar-beet Co Bio of Africa, headed by Phil Edmonds of several projects and cricketer.

Very little interest here recently, so I guess that's a No-No, then?

PS
Barefoot (last=30Oct07) - what's your take, if any?

huxley - 24 Sep 2008 09:14 - 9 of 12

topped up a couple of months ago... seems to be moving up nicely.

huxley - 26 Sep 2008 07:23 - 10 of 12

news has arrived regarding the sale of the project. RWE Innogy will acquire the power plant for 28m. Helius will bank a 20m profit, the deal also offers 4.5 years worth of project consultancy and take 13% of the profits generated by the plant in its first 24 years.

What's Up?
In four years we're still on P1 - such is the interest.....?

I do not like the connection with Wartsilla Bio - a respected Co but their website speaks of soya, and similar crop-based biomass fuels - NOT for me. There should be a ban on food destruction . . . . and tax-breaks that encourage are lies, IMHO.
The way I see it, this (AIM-listed) Co. is just a planning Agency, or am I missing something.... do they possess some USP?

Well, I see Dirs sold 4m shares recently and only one Dir bought 1m - that says something, perhaps they are using all their output to fuel Dirs cars and overseas travel - dunno, but "bargepole" looks about right.
BTW, if you hadn't guessed - I don't like Alternative Energy...... it's a nice idea, but cannot compete
with World demand - we (in the West) are set on a path of self-destruction, until something cheaper replaces it.
Furthermore there is a massive population growth (=energy use), which will only be satisfied
by Nuclear (oops, fears abound) or "fossil" which is easy to obtain, now we have the "tech".
World Pop is influenced now by China, India and most of S.America -
- Biomass Huh!
