Must be quite an update, the board didn't sound too hopeful when they last reported to the market and that's an understatement!!
FINANCIAL PAYMENT SYSTEMS LIMITED
Interim Accounts for 6 months ended 30 June 2007
Financial Payment Systems Limited (the company together with its subsidiary,
'FPS', the 'Group' or the 'Company'), the AIM listed provider of electronic
payment approval systems to government agencies and corporations within the
Jiangsu Province of China, announces its interim results for the six months
ending 30 June 2007.
Financial Highlights (Six months to 30th June 2007)
- No revenue was generated by the Group.-
- Loss for the period up 74% to 0.59 million (2006: 0.34 million).
- Cash balance of 2.6 million at 30th June 2007.
- Loss per share was 0.006 (2006: 0.022).
Financial Payment Systems Limited
('FPS' or 'the Company')
Joint Venture update
In our Interim Statement issued on 17 September 2007 FPS reported that progress
in deploying systems for inter-Governmental departments had taken longer than
anticipated. We have continued to struggle to engage, through our joint venture
partner (whose ownership has recently changed), the Government departments and
as a result little progress has been made since our last report. We have
consistently pressed our Joint Venture partner to progress matters with the
Government departments but as yet to little avail. A formal board meeting of the
Joint Venture has been called, and will take place as soon as practicable after
the Chinese New Year holiday, in an attempt to move matters forward. The Board
is not optimistic that this will bring any tangible beneficial results.
Development of our B2B proposition has continued with interfaces to ICBC being
completed and progress being made with two other banks. Customer interest has
also been increasing. However it has become evident that a stand-alone B2B
proposition would need, in order to be financially and commercially viable, a
level of business to be attained that is unrealistic given our current structure
and resources.
The Board has concluded that without a successful and timely deployment of our
system in Government departments, which would bring the volume of transactions
necessary to achieve underlying commercial viability, we would not be able to
sustain the company on its B2B proposition alone.
Consequently, failure to make substantial progress at the forthcoming meeting
with our Joint Venture partner is likely to result in the company ceasing its
present activities in China and the Board recommending an alternative investment
strategy.
The Company's current cash position is just under 2 million of which
approximately 700,000 is held in the China Joint Venture and maybe to subject
to transfer restrictions.
A further announcement will be made following our meeting with our Joint Venture
partner.

Just seen a tip on the other side for this. Cash in bank would suggest a 5 fold increase in sp, But there is one word mentioned that makes me very cautious to the extent that I may leave completly alone.
That word is CHINA.

oily, not sure how a 5 fold figure is arrived at, 90 odd million shares in issue at 0.5p, gives a value of 0.5m. Assuming the 700k is non-recoverable would give a value of 1.3M, still a potential 2-3 fold increase in the SP, however, having read the recent RNSs, wouldn't go anywhere near them myself.

Spoke to Malcolm Williams today (07768688869) and I got the impression that the company will end up as cash shell with atleast 1 million cash which is equivalent to 1.10p on the share price. IP rights and 700,000 cash in China may bring something later imo...still 100% rise imo with a worst case scenario of 1.10p cash. Looks set for a breakout anyday now:
Going forward as a cash shell with atleast 1 million cash may bring some good opportunities and beyond rises past 1.10p on any positive news.

Daily Commentary
Our system posted a BUY-IF today. The previous SELL recommendation was made on 13.11.2007 (167) days ago, when the stock price was 3.7500. Since then FPS has fallen -86.67% .
A bullish pattern has developed and a BUY-IF alert is issued today.
The last three candlesticks formed a Bullish Tri Star Pattern . This is a bullish reversal pattern that marks a potential change in trend. However, its reliability is not very high and it requires confirmation.

I think I must be going senile in my old age but the 'handle' ACTIVE eventually rang a bell. Actually I thought he had been banned some while ago, notoriously known as SueHelen, Laila25 and a host of other aliases. Specialises in pump and dumps of micro caps, builds a following and moves on. You will find multiple posts of the stocks he's trying to pump on a variety of BBs. The chart above showing the Bollinger Bands is an old favourite as is cutting and pasting from Britsih Bulls and no doubt if the MACD turns a hair that will also put in an appearance. As Big Al once said on another thread, 'where's a plumber when you need one?'
I would also hazard a guess that MR CHINA and SCAFF are one and the same, funny how they both appeared on the same day!

Agreed PT, I have decided that if this were to come good then I can afford to miss it, as I think there is too much risk to warrent any investment. I have been bitten before on chinese stocks, a few to mention are TAIH, UVEL, BSK, GNG, SOLA, SCR, GGG, and probably a few more.

Where is the evidence of an 'amazing update'??

Very undervalued with worse case scenario of 1.10p cash or best case scenario of 2p cash and even more value if joint venture continues.

Looks like a 500,000 buy order at 0.57p filled during the day from earlier kicked off the rise at lunchtime. Definite buy as the sell price did not get to 0.57p. There was also the 750,000 buy at 0.55p last week....sizeable buys considering no volume over the last couple of months.

Errrm.....now you're getting v.desperate with the deramping.
The screen offer price this morning was 0.60p and the highest the bid price has been is 0.50p all day.....the 500,000 buy at 0.575p kicked off the rise and was filled during the afternoon. Are you really telling me that the market makers paid that much premium for that kind of quantity? That's even better if is the case. Looking forward to the price reaching worse case scenario cash position of 1.10p tomorrow.
