Room to Invest Ltd -- Capital Ideas plc -- Renwick Haddow (CAPT)

MightyMicro - 23 Jun 2008 22:55

I've received the glossiest of glossy brochures as an invitation to invest in this Budapest Hotel. The investment is unlisted but eligible for inclusion in a SIPP. The company is a subsidiary of Capital Ideas Plc, described as "an established investment boutique" quoted on AIM. The prime mover is Mr Renwick Haddow, Founder and Chairman.

Just before any chequebooks are wielded, what's known about these folks?

Please tell me you didn't..........

Wish I'd seen your post a while ago. Bin bag job imho. Haddow has been Director of companies like the Weather Lottery; Traction Technology; Consolidated Vending........... Not heard of them?

Possibly because they have all been floated on AIM and all gone bust. There are others......

Also 21 nights in a house in Eastern Europe, not even at your times of choosing; so you might find yourself paying your flight and transfers and meals to a Villa in the middle of the Buda Hills when the outside temperature is -22 in February.

I could get a room in imho nicer parts of Eastern Europe for 12-15 euros a night; at which rate even allowing for inflation etc, I'd have to spend the best part of 25 years 'stuck' (pardon the pun!) at the Villa Uhu for a few weeks annually just to get my money back.

And of course property prices have passed their peak there too;
http://www.globalpropertyguide.com/Europe/Hungary/Price-History it would not be the first time imho Mr Haddow (there's some info about him in 'A Fool and His Money site too) moved in just as the smart money moved out!)

I see the sp is up 50% (wow!) and yet the Sells are c.1m, with Buys about 450k (midday).
So is the Market having a joke too?
Bargepoles.
