I think they are coming out with a trading statement in the next couple of days.

BDEV and TW. are recognised as the 2 most at risk. I think it is a case of can they get some finance sorted. If the answer is yes then they will survive. Otherwise, possibly not.

I'm actually selling a flat in Solihull which is where TW. is based. We have already dropped the price by 7% but the agent has told us that unless we drop by another 15000 now, they don't want to represent us anymore. The only houses selling are repossessions and those that are desperate to sell and prepared to drop a lot. I think it is the next stage of all this where estate agents are on the point of extinction. To cut costs they will only take on properties that are very cheaply priced.

IMO for what it is worth I think the recovery when it comes will be quick although houses prices will take a long time to get back. The question is how many companiies will survive till then.

Good luck!

Unless you are going to trade the bounces on a very short term basis (i.e daily or weekly), stay well clear, imo. If they don't survive then you will lose your money.

dear harrycat
holding a large amount at a lot higher price jumping in and out is not an option trying to read the market on a daily basis is a mugs game[ie if they get funding and i am not in the market i will have done my dough] sit and suffer i think

Ah! Didn't realise you were already holding stock.
In that case it's a tricky choice. Hold & hope for better times, or buy some more to average your price down to a better level if you are confident of a recovery at some time. I can't see too much point in selling now as you would be taking a big loss & presumably not getting much cash back.

my thought exactly mate but i will wait a bit for a bit more clarity i also thought about buying other stocks[swap] at or about the same price.........difficult

The Times State:

Texas Pacific may be contemplating 30% stake in Taylor Wimpey

I guess thats why they fell around 8% today after the B & B carry on :)
