Many of you will have met and been entertained online and offline by this most remarkable man. He has been a stalwart of the BBs since ESI days and always brought a sense of humour and fairness to all his postings. To meet him in the flesh was a remarkable experience, you couldnt but smile at his wayward antics and fun of life. Some of our Xmas lunches have been MG Days with his penchant for wearing thongs on the outside of his clothes plus many other memorable and not repeatable antics.

Despite the fun side of life he was a very strong family man, a very good businessman and an adviser to local governments on regeneration.

He will be sorely missed by me as a personal friend and fun golfer, but mainly as one of the most honest and fun contributors to the BBs I have been involved in.

Dear all
We are sorry to contact you all like this with this news, but it is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Malcolm passed away just before 7.30 yesterday evening in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. We are sure that you are all aware that Malcolm was battling prostate cancer and his decline in the last few days was rapid and shocking. He was admitted to the QE on Friday with very low platelet and haemoglobin levels. It quickly became apparent that the cancer had spread to his liver and on Monday morning his kidney function also deteriorated rapidly. He spent yesterday drifting in and out of consciousness but was aware that we were all with him. He seemed to spend much of this time in a better place and was talking about being in Wales (the scene of many a happy family holiday).

Malcolm has clearly been planning for this time though it came so much sooner than any of us could have imagined. He has left clear instructions outlining his wishes when the inevitable has happened and he had set up this group email for us to contact you all. We hope that many of you will by now have heard in a more personal way and are sorry if this email is the first that you have heard of this. We will obviously be in touch with details of Malcolms funeral when these arrangements have been made.

jeesus....terrible terrible news.....MG was a legend and a great contributor...have exchanged emails with him for years but never met him...did not know he was unwell...........will be sorely missed

Tragic news. MG was a one-off and always made things go with a buzz, whether on the BBs or in the raw.

So shocked at his rapid decline.

Spoke to him a few weeks back and whilst in a lot of pain he was still fighting and trying his best to be his usual ebullient self.

Many happy memories of BB get togethers and in the days when we were both trading the DOW the opening to our daily phone call was I have ze cunning plan

I will miss him greatly.

Chatted with Bully and we have agreed I should dig out some photos from my BB history that show Malcolm how we would like to remember him Funny, warm, gregarious, outrageous and loveable. Will post them into the header later.

I had the privilege of meeting Malcolm for the first time a few years ago at the Money AM golf competition. I was immediately struck by his friendliness and great sense of humour. We exchanged emails on an intermittent basis and I found he was always willing to offer advice. He was one of the first friends I made through the medium of a financial BB. I was aware of his illness and the likely outcome; nevertheless I am gutted at this terrible news.

Never met MG but enjoyed his posts especially on the forex thread. He was always willing to bet against the trend, sometimes with great success, but with no regret if it went against him.

MG attended a couple of our Pie and a Pint meetings at numerous watering holes around Birmingham, the last was at the Barton Arms where he turned up with Martini. I have Missed his Intelligent and witty postings, shocked and saddened at this news.

Malcolm had a great gift of gathering every happy recollection, big or small, from the memory banks, to battle the demons of adversity.

Such sad news - and to think I'll not hear those smooth Yorkshire tones recounting with elation his latest 'counting thingie' when it was down, or describing explosive trajectiles in his inimitable way, and not least, comparing baldness with that bald bloke Mikey again.

Meggers was a good friend to many of us over the years - and a gentleman, which of course he always refuted.

Winson Green will never be the same.

I remember one of my first encounters with Malcolm, at a MoneyAM golf day, where he tolerated my appalling performance with great humour and kindness.

He was genuine and generous company at numerous meals and events over the years, although I still have nightmares about his nipple attack (above).

Sorry to hear this news. I never met Malcolm in person, but I dare say like many people, knew him from his presence on the bulletin boards over the years. My condolences to his family.

Very sad news I remember him from years back on the boards always very good natured and often funny posts.
