Fears that China could fall victim to a speculative bubble resurfaced on Tuesday as country's authorities ordered its banks to set aside more reserves in a precursor to a full-blown interest rate increase.

FTSE 100 movers: Commodities weigh on Footsie13-01-2010 14:56

Lower precious metals prices have hit shares in gold miner Randgold, silver group Fresnillo and platinum specialist Lonmin, while the weak oil price has Shell in the bottom 10.

Telecoms group BT climbs after being upgraded by RBS to buy from hold with its target price upped to 200p from 107p.

Elsewhere in broker coverage, Admiral is standing tall after Merrill Lynch lifted the car insurer's target price to 1,150p to 1,200p, pointing to growth prospects.
