The Federal Reserve is still in no hurry to start hiking US interest rates, it indicated after its eagerly-awaited meeting on Tuesday.

The EU has agreed to a rescue mechanism for Greece but only if the country is facing "imminent insolvency" or the stability of the eurozone is at risk, leaving markets as confused as ever over the terms of support.

Chinese steel authorities attacked attempts by iron ore miners to increase annual prices by as much as 90 per cent yesterday, echoing earlier comments made by a European trade body, which said that groups such as Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton were threatening the economic recovery.

Good morning traders!
In the US last night, the Dow rose 44 points at 10,686, the Nasdaq added 16 points
at 2,378 and the S&P500 gained 9 points at 1,159.
In Asia today, the Nikkei was up 125.21 points at 10,846.92, while the Hang Seng
ended the morning ahead 330.69 points at 21,353.62.
Crude oil traded at $81.87 a barrel on Nymex.
Gold settled at $1,127 an ounce.
